I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
 

All I have to say is. IS IT DEER SEASON YET? Wow, I have never seen soooooo many bucks from 170"-over 200" in one place. I bet the average score of the deer displayed was 150-160 inches. There had to be about 10 bucks over 200 inches there. Says a lot for the deer hunting in IL!!

I saw Christine at the bowfishing booth and Greg/MO at the bowtech booth. (Shot a Guardian there) Hard to tell too much about it, I shot into the back wall of their booth at 10 feet. Never caught up to Justin but I heard he was there. And stickbow?? was at the White Knuckle Productions booth selling their video

The booths at the show left a little to be desired. Not a lot of the big name manufacturers. A lot of gadget type products and small operaters. But I still had a good time.

Now for some big buck pics.Not too many of these running around a 7X7 with a few stickers. Scored 198+ net over 200 gross.

Hey man, sorry we couldn't hook up. I had a great time too. Met Greg/MO and Pat dinan aka Bowtech_shooter at the bowtech booth. Great guys. We took pics of alot of the same mounts as you.:D We did get a few pics of the cool turkey mounts especially the oscellated.

I actually liked it, but I like different mounts that are out of the ordinary. I'd be proud to display any of those mounts in my house. Definately the most impressive display of racks in one area that I've ever seen. I can see why Illinois brings big bucks for their big bucks.

I just got back a couple hours ago. Stopped buy and chatted with Greg (Great Guy) and finally had the chance to shoot the Gaurdian. Let me tell you, that thing is sweet. Absolutely no hand shock what so ever.It will deffinitly be a toppick when I get serious, sometime soon Also stopped buy HNI booth andMet Christine and got a new cool HNI hat. The kids shot a few arrows into some animal targets there. Bought a couple things, alot of browsing. Went through the deer mount walls rather quickly, but got to see some real monsters, also a few that are posted here (thanks for the pics guys). I may run down tomorrow and look at the deer a little better.
You go through it a little faster than you want when the family iswith you.

hey mobo the deer on the horn pedistal i think belongs to the taxi thats doin my deer and done my brother in law (goherd1111) who i think he said he talked to you there. did you see the name on the deer mount. the taxis name is terry day of wildlife taxidermy.

I only took a few pictures. The one on the antler pedastels caught my eye and I had to have a picture of it.

just got back to mt. carmel...its12:15. This was my first time going and it was everything i expected.bought a white knuckle dvd and an hni shirt and sticker. I had allowed myself about 300 to spend but were leaving for vegas monday so i decided i could use the extra money...well let me put it this was i took my girlfriend so she kept me in line on how much i should spend[:@]There was some great bucks there tho...6 from wabash county all over 150 typical...thought i was going to get the chance to stay for tomorrow with the way the ice was coming down at about 1 pm

my friend's dad had a mount score at that show it scored 170 but they said it was a noon typical because it had split G2's

That tall slim guy would probably be me, 6' 3" and 185#. And I was wearing my orange HNI cap after I got it from Christine.

I also went to the classic yesterday and enjoyed it very much.I also met a few of the HNIers such as gregMO and Christine, bot were great people. I agree with jm buckhunter, the boothsweren't that great. However, the mounts was really what I was going for anyway. The deer on the pedastal was taken by my taxi right here in Morgan county. He mounted the deer that I just got back last week and posted for you guys to see. He does great work: If your interested its Life Like taxidermy in Jacksonville, IL. I know it has been posted but here is another pic of it.



Here's a picture of the drop tine buck someone mentioned earlier. That is a perfect rack.

I was there to Jmbuckhunter, i was waiting onthe call from MObow but from reading this thread i guess he did not make it there, bummer, i was looking forward to meeting you guys.met Greg at the bowtech booth, What a Great guy to talk to!, and i got to shoot the guardian, man what a sweet quiet bow, i want one. Met deerslayer, and Christine, i met some of the guys at the bowfishing booth, sorry im terrable remembering the usernames but great people. Had a great time, ran into some of the guys i work with, one had two son's that both had heads in the show. One was a mainframe 7 point with a couple tines almost 16" long very impressive. His other son won best of show last year with an archery booner and had a pope and young entered this year. I came home with less money for sure. The ice storm made for a whiteknuckle 4 1/2 hr. drive home.

I went today and had a good time. Chatted with Stan Potts for a minute. I was most impressed with the Chippewa tree stands. Striker traditional bows also were pretty sweet. Overall good time. I got a bunch of new turkey calling gear as well.
