RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Crutch, I am not sure if it was you are not. Are you a taller than your picture lets on? If I had to put a time on it, it was right around noon when I went by the booth and saw the orange hat down the aisle. I did hear one of the guys in the booth ask if Justin was coming back because some guy just asked for him.

Must have been jmbuckhunter, as I didn't get there till around 1:45pm. Use to be 6' at one time, also 170:eek: Crutch |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
I haven't even had a chance to catch my breath yet, as I got home late last night and have been swamped with work stuff today and trying to prepare my week ahead...
I did want to take the time to say "Thanks" to all the people who took the time to stop by the Bowtech booth and introduce themselves; it was a pleasure meeting each and every one of you, and my only regret is that I didn't have more time to stop and shoot the breeze! Hopefully, next year some of you guys that wanted to make it but couldn't can find a way. It's a great show, and it's awesome getting to talk to you guys in person. Speaking of meeting guys in person... Don Higgins, the author of Hunting Trophy Whitetails in the Real World was set up not far from the Bowtech booth. What a guy! We got to talk for quite a long time. If you haven't had a chance to pick up his book yet, you can buy an autographed copy from www.higginsoutdoors.com. Don's one of the most knowledgeable, down-to-earth hunters you could ever meet... just a good 'ol boy who puts his time in likea lot of us and has learned how to connect on some monster bucks!!! Maybe that's why his user name when he visits our forum is Monster Bucks Only... :) Got to finally catch Byron Ferguson's trick-shooting show this year... Another great guy with his head on straight. Spent quite a bit of time chatting with him, too -- as I did the guys at the White Nuckle Productions booth. Most of you guys know Todd Prignitz (The Lone Wolf) and stickbow from on here, and they represented themselves and HNI with the utmost class. I wish them all the best as they move forward with their vision of what a world-class hunting DVD should represent! |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Todd Prignitz As far as quantity at the show, the mounts and deer were awesome. I do wish we could get more Manufacturers there to put on a show. I know bowtech don't do some big elaborate booth...but they were there. I don't think there is enough of them showing up. My hats off to NAP, Lone Wolf, Bowtech, Penns Woods Game Calls, Summit, etc (can't think of them all)... for coming to our show. It is not a huge show, but it is good to see the big names there. I think this show could grow tremendously just by getting some other big name companies there. Ok, quick question, I can't remember the name of the place to save my life, there was a booth setup selling shirts, hats, etc... Really nice setup, maybe 2 or 3 booths worth with an outdoor theme and shelves. Who were they, I thought I grabed a card, but I can't find it. I really liked some of there shirts, but didn't have enough money to buy some. I would like to find them and order some when the money is there. Now this is just a pet peeve of mine, but the show is called the DEER & TURKEY CLASSIC. I can't stand all the goose calls going off all day long. |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
It was nice to meet those of you who stopped by the Illinois Bowfishers, HNI, Kid's Archery booth. ;)
BTW, it's almost bowfishing time. :D ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Deb with her buck and her newly bobbed hair. ![]() |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Il Bow... Todd was an aisle over from Byron Ferguson, on the end... White Nuckle Productions. They had a few Wolfskin Predator sock caps sitting around, and some HNI stuff as well. Sorta by the Chippewa stands as well.
Was it the Fresh Meat booth you're asking about? There were a bunch of shirt booths over around there, that's for sure. Oh.. and regarding how the Bowtech booth "looks", as I've seen several references to that... it gets set up that way for safety reasons. Those drab-looking side and back curtains are Kevlar which allows us to let show attendees to shoot blunts safely into the booth. Show regulations mandate side shields as well as a backstop, and Bowtech's booth has actually been highlighted as the model booth for allowing shooting during the show. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but it is the safest. |

Todd, if you read this, I applogize for not saying hey! Fresh meat don't seem to be the one I was thinking of or they don't have all of their shirts online. I was thinking that Bone was in their name, could be wrong though. |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Greg it was nice meeting you as well. I bought Dons book at the show from a booth but i did not know he was there or i would of had it autographed. Im half way thru it and it seems like a great book.

RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Sorry Il Bow.. I probably should have taken the time to more-carefully word my post. In no way did I infer that you were complaining... Like I said, I'd seen mention of it a couple other times from other posters, and just wanted to point out that our booth was set up from a safety standpoint moreso than from a looks perspective. Again... didn't think you were complaining in the least.
Also... I'm just sitting down to watch Todd's DVD... It's fantastic, and well worth the $$$$$. I also noticed on the opening credits I misspelled "knuckle"... :)It's been a long three weeks :D(Today's my first day home in that time frame...) My apologies for missing the "n" in Pringnitz, too. ;) I LOVE the fact they don't cut away from the scene as the deer starts to fall; that's my ABSOLUTE BIGGEST pet peeve with some of the more commerciallypopular stuff out there. You can check out "Beyond The Kill" at www.whiteknuckleproductions.com. |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Good meeting you Greg ,Byron Ferguson is one of the most personable guys anyone could ever talk to.He is really down to earth and doesn't let his fame go to his head.Great show this year,I hope to spend more time next year.Sorry I didn't get to talk with Christine this year and the Illinois bowfishers.Oh well we got the outing this season at coon creek, that will be fun.Maybe next time I go I'll get a chance to shoot one of those lefty bowtechs, they where prety popular!!!Bill D>

RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Blood, he's likely the person you bought it from... either that, or his wife who was helping him out in his booth! :D
Don and I talked about the fact that his picture on the cover of the book doesn't do him justice... [8D]He looks a LOT taller and slimmer in person. He told me that pic was taken in January when it was freezing cold outside, and he was bundled up pretty good and had some pretty thick coveralls on. I think the scale of that barn may make him look a bit shorter as well. He's a pretty tall guy, and had a good smattering of silver in his hair and especially in his goatee... that might ring a bell; don't know. |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Greg, thanks for the link to white knuckle. I have known Todd quite a while and I will deffinatly buy a CD from them.
And you will never hear me say it again...but buckeye is the man!! That is who it is. But after looking at both Fresh Meat and Bone Head, they must be one in the same? Same town, same site design...same people? |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Hey guys, it was definately awesome meeting you all as well, and those Bowtech's didn't shoot too bad either Greg! he he he......
IL Bow Man - No worries bro, I would loved to have chatted with you, maybe next year? You going to any of the following shows: Iowa, Wisconsin, or Ohio? We're going to be attending all of those as well! Anyone else from HuntingNet please stop by and say hello if you have a chance. It's so cool to put faces onto the guys and gals that I've been chatting with for years! |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Todd, I deffinatley want a DVD, but you aren't offering them up on the web page yet. I will have to keep an eye out for it.

RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
I think the only person I met whom I hadn't already met in person was Greg/MO who managed to track me down at the NAP booth for a bit. Greg - I stopped by the Bowtech booth before I left but you weren't around. Probably out yacking away as usual. :D
In my 2 1/2 hour visit to the show I managed to see the guys from Lone Wolf, Todd Pringnleberries at the WKP booth, Art Helin at NAP, Travis and Freddie at Archer's Choice, and of course my favorite person in the world Christine and K. Holmes at the IL Bowfishers booth. Oh, and I briefly met Robin Parks too. Nice fish by the way. Unfortunately prior obligations dictated that I had to be home on Sunday or I would've stayed longer. I'm lucky I got out when I did - 30 mph for 2 1/2 hours on the way home in an ice storm was not my idea of fun. Lots of cars and trucks off in the ditch, some rightside up, some upside down. It was nasty. I fully intend on being at the WI show all day Sat and Sun in the White Knuckle booth, so hopefully I'll get to meet some more people. As a side note - the WKP DVD is available in the HuntingNet store at the link below: http://www.huntingnet.com/shoppingcart/Default.aspx?CategoryID=11&ItemID=WKP01 And here's the proof that I was at the show. :D ![]() |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
I just want to state for the record...that if Justin would have waited until that evening to head home, the roads would have been better. I made my hour drive home in just about an hour at 6:00!! Goes to show that you should have waited!!
Thanks for the link for the video justin! I still wish Todd would have let us know he was there, I would have made it a point to stop! But then again, I might have missed the post. I do know the video looks good as I stood and watched it at the booth while I was waiting for my wife to get back from the bathroom with one of the kids. |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
I got to talk to Todd and Walt(stickbow26) at the Whiteknuckle booth. They both seem like they would be great to be in a deer camp with. They both love to talk hunting and we shared a few stories. The video is well done too. Shows more of the hunting and how and why they set up where they do. Not just sitting in a stand and shooting the deer. I think they have a good idea of what hunters really want to see in a video. They also show the many days and hours of not seeing deer or the one they want. More real life hunting than a lot of the others.
I think I left just in time, around 2:45.The ice was just starting to build up on my truck when I got to it. The roads were a little slushy but not too bad. I headed South so I drove out of the ice and only saw rain the rest of the way. |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic

RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
I see no mention of how many huntsor the length of WKP's dvd.
Any info? |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Yeah, the LW's are worth the extra couple bucks. The quality and construction is second to none!
|
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
looks like that place is awesome!! nice pics!
|
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
The DVD is 1-3/4 hours, features probably 100+ hunts (we don't kill everytime we go into the woods), 6 impacts (5 bow), and a ton of recovery footage, misc. big buck footage, and ton's of stuff that most videos don't show. There are also probably 15+ bucks over 130" that we pass (some close to 150").
The idea behind the video was to do something different. This isn't a "kill-kill-kill" type video. It's a video about real hunters and their seasons. Not all seasons ended with a kill, and we show it..... |

RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Do you plan to be at the Ohio Deer& Turkey Expo?
I actually watch the deer more in the videos than the "hunt". The more footage of whitetails in their element the more I usually enjoy the video. |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
Yes, we will be at the Ohio show. Be sure to stop by and check it out.
As far as you're comment about just watching whitetails in their natural environment, you said it! We've got shed hunting footage, lot's of velvet footage, and many world class whitetails on the video as well. I think you'll dig it! Look forward to meeting you! |
RE: I'm back from the IL Deer Clasic
I did a google search for White Knuckle Productions and got this: http://www.wk-productions.com/
Is this your site? |
