LOL! I almost laughed when I read the first thread! There isn't even a remote comparison between the cheap junky Zebra strings and the top quality custom product from a string such as Winners Choice! Night and Day difference!

gibblett,
I always use WC strings and had good luck w/ them. But I hear how good your strings are.
Are your strings pre-stretched also?
I'd like to try yours.

archer58, WC does make nice strings, no doubt about it. they have to do more pre-stretching than i do because they're using 8125, or were last i heard. my base material is 452x, because i like it better, even though its more expensive.

coug, i don't know. if they used 20 strands of 8125 on your string i could match it w/ 452x, or beat it w/ 18 strands of 8125. if they used 18 strands of 8125, i don't think i could beat it w/ 452x - but it wouldn't be far off. there is not enough speed difference in my opinion to warrant the use of 8125 on anything but an older model bow. however, i'm mental over other things in target archery besides speed - and if you're mental over speed and can't shake that - then an 8125 string is the way to go - 18 strands if you're not pulling over 70# - and still no reason not to use 452x
cable(s).

FYI...I have a "custom" string, don't know the brand, but had it put on by BlueRidge Backwoods in Central IL, it is hunter orange/black...looks good, butit actually seems like it slowed down my arrow flight. That's why I asked the question, since this is my first head to headcustom vs. manufac. string comparisson.

you can't just say a stock mathews string is no good - some are and some aren't - probably depends who made it. you see some sets folks never have a lick of trouble out of, and others they do from day 1. inconsistancy is what kills their rep. i tell folks all the time to shoot the heck out of them - if you're cable doesn't keepcreeping - you're not chasing your peep, and your string doesn't creep - what could you want? better looking - yeah - ok - but if they act right there is no need to buy strings until they're shot out.
