Yes, a lot did post. It's good to know that the arrow weight is okay. I know one thing... they're accurate. As to the peroxide, that's a great idea. That's why I posted the question. Also, for TFOX, I appreciate your signature line. I'm still active duty.

There is a point of dimineshing return but it is wayup there. You could shoot 12 gr/lb and still have a decent increase ke and huge increase in momentum, but a big drop in speed, which is overated in the first place.Actually,it is blown WAY out of proportion.[:-] And I am not reccomending 12 gr/lb,just using it as an example.
True, but now we're just talking about how far in the ground you want the arrow to stick in the dirt after it passes through the deer. IMO, when you hit around the 5.8 gpp mark you've got PLENTY of both worlds. You aren't shooting a terribly light arrow, and you aren't shooting a terribly slow arrow. Take my set up for example. I've been messing w/ 2 different arrows, one weighs 425 gr and the other weighs 400 gr. Not a lot, no, but it's a 5 fps difference in speed, again, not alot, but just using it as an example.

The 425 gr. arrow is flying 282, the 400 flys 287. There is only a 2 ft pound difference in KE, 75 and 73 respectively. If I can't blow right through a deer w/ 73 pounds of KE....I just don't think the 2 extra is gonna help anything.

I guess perhaps it's relative to the set up. If you're shooting low poundage and slow anyway, I guess a heavier arrow would be more advantageous, but in with my particular set up, I'll take the speed.

I'ts been an honor to serve for the past 23 1/2 years. Six more months and I retire.
Incidentally, I could use some opinions on broadheads. Since I'm inexperienced, I'm leaning towards mechanicals. Any inputs on Grim Reaper 3 bladed mechanicals?
-Or- Is there a good reason to stick to regular broadheads? I know it's probably a trade off. You don't have to worryabout a fixed-blade broadhead not deploying the blades, but with a mechanical, you don't have to fight the planing issue. I've never liked being new at something.

I liked muzzy's but switched a few years back to thunderhead's. Both fixed and I don't have to worry about anything, including flying different then field points.

Wow. NOW you've opened up a serious can of worms. Mechanicals work perfectly well, IF you aren't using them as a bandaid for a poorly tuned bow. I'm personally a big fan of Magnus Stingers and Rocket Hammerheads. I LOVE the big cutting diameter of the Hammerheads, 2". But the Stingers have a lifetime warranty. I shot a doe through both shoulders last year, and it busted my Stinger all to hell. The head did it's job, but Magnus replaced it, absolutely no questions asked. I just had to send them the busted one.

There is a lot of info to learn about BH's for the newbie. The choices are nearly endless. Most heads are really high quality anymore, and if your bow and arrows are properly tuned, they should all fly well.

Check back before hunting season and the board will be full of broadhead discussions(ARGUEMENTS). I have fallen in love with Rocket Hammerheads, 2" dia thru the lungs puts them on the ground in a hurry. Plus with your color blindness it leaves a massive blood trail, and most of the time a short one. I see most of my deer fall. No need to blood trail that way.

Good advice. Getting a wider cutting path and putting more blood on the ground would be a huge help in tracking. I know that I don't need mechanicals to compensate for an out of tune bow. This bow shoots sweet.

What kind of draw length you have.I am calculating you are shooting 70#'s so that should be fine for a larger cut Rocket, unless you have a 26" draw length or something like that.

I also think they are GREAT heads, especially with your color blindness.
