Spouses Who Hunt?
#1
The, anyone "not allowed" to keep a mount in the house, post gave me the idea to pose this question:
How many of you are hunters whom have spouses that hunt? I'm not sure how to do the poll thing on this, so if anyone wants to help me out on that - go for it.
My wife and I hunted together on our second date. She is a rifle hunter, but only really hunts when I or her dador brothersgoes with her. I bought her a bow and worked with her on it, but she never really wanted to shoot unless I was there. Which I was, but to be a serious bow hunter I think you have to be driven to do it on your own, etc.
She has taken a cow elk on her own. This year she took 4 muley does and a 150 class muley buck. When we got married, she had a muley, whitetail and antelope mounts to add to our collection. She doesn't get into serious climbing, walking, scouting, etc..., she just likes to go out one day, bam, and have a deer or three down. I enjoy making sure she has an opportunity to do that every year.

I think I posted this befor, But here goes. When my Son-in-law calls from Kansas and wants to talk Deer hunting, He asks for My Wife! She is a Fly Fishing and Bird Hunting Licensed Guide. She raises and trains German Shorthaired pointers. Pulls a 60# hunting Bow, and has killed more deer with a Bow than most Men (I know thats hard for some men to swallow, but its true!) If it was not for Her, we would go meatless around heremost seasons, and we go by the, if you kill it, you gut it rule! She was the womens western Kentucky Bowhunting Champ 2 years running, a State 3-D champ, and carried a 298 average on the last league we shot on (She had a Bit of target panic, I had to put her on the Stan. for a while) The last Buck She shot with her 7mm was paced off at 175 large paces, and the Heart rolled out of its chest when cleaned. In 1976 in front of some members of the Marine Corp pistol team, she shot a smiley face on a human silhouette at 25 meters with a Model 29 S&W 44mag, long befor Mell (make belive)Gibson did it in Lethal Weapon!!Two seasons ago she missed a total of 2 day's hunting from Oct 1 to Jan 1. Hay, I married the perfect Woman, she can shoot your Eye out, put meat on the table,And Cook to!

My wife hunts as well. She hunts with bow and muzzleloader. She has taken 3 deer with her bow, she killed her first antlered buck this year, a nice 7 pointer, and a doe. She has killed 2 deer with her muzzleloader, a nine pointer this year. She is a very good shot with both weapons and out shoots me about half the time. I just bought her a new bowtech equalizer for valentines day. I can't wait to see what she will do with that.

After 6 years of marriage my wife has decided to take up hunting. I told her that it would be a perfect oppritunity for us to spend time together, with our children. I'm hoping this is going to be great memories for our children, as well as, educational!

I didn't see: "Used to until we had kids but hope she rejoins me in the field in the future!"
She hadn't hunted prior to meeting me and in her brief hunting career shot a ten point buck with her shotgun andharvesteda doe her first bowseason. Also shot a coyote through the heart, on the run, with her 12 gauge Remington 1100 shooting slugs. She is one up on me there.
