Since last year was the first year i DIDN'T get a gobbler i'm going to try to take the first of the year with the shotgun and the 2nd w/ the bow

It is really hard to bow hunt them where I hunt. I hunt in the Mark Twain Natl. Forest around Fredericktown. It is big woods with lots of hills(old mountains). Hard to set up blinds on the hillsides and you have to be mobil most of the time. They just do not seem to come to calling very often. You have to put a move on them most of the time. I think I will stick with my shotgun. Even then it is tough.

Just applied for mine and my girlfriends Illinois turkey permits today. Not sure that we will get them since its down to the last drawing. I plan on taking the bow with me and giving here the shotgun. I have never turkey hunted much due to the fact that I am a hardcore bass fisherman and am usually on the water in the spring chasing bucketmouths. Figured I would give it a try this year. I know it will be very tough to take my first turkey ever with a bow, so if we are lucky enough to get one in range my "better half" will probably be taking the shot with the gun.

This will be my second season. Last year I choked on my chances to fill my tag. Hopefully the monkey comes off my back this year!

Well, I've had a great Jan this year. I've secured turkey hunting in both Illonois and western Tn. For both areas, I told them I only bow hunt and they said bring it on. Got to love that.

That'd be cool, we'll have a renta car.....let me what the price is, we could work something out. ;) Probably will pay for all the drinks and maybe the hunts. :)

i would LOVE to hunt turkeys with a bow, but unfortunatly around here ( monroe county, illinois) there just aren't that many turkeys yet. Ten years ago there were no turkeys around here, but ever so slowly they are starting move in. Maybe in a couple of years i'll be able to hunt them.
