Well said, Germ. I'm not saying he's RIGHT and anyone else is WRONG. I'm saying I agree with Germ 100%.

Don...Again...I applaud your passion.

How's it coming with getting that type language and shots on TV, Don?

I'm not making fun of you, Don....I'm telling you that nobody on the air, today, uses NON-"tactful" language because they know what we know. You underestimate the VAST MAJORITY of people in this country (the people who don't hunt)....and you risk your livelihood (in their instance) and your passion (in ours).

I can't make it any clearer than that. If you disagree....that's fine. I'm a big boy....I respect your opinion. But there's areason TV shows today aren't depicted the way your story is. Why do YOU think that is?????
Good thing that the TV show he's trying to produce isn't being made to please the general public then, isn't it? It's a hunting show made for hunters. The ratings will come from hunters, not the general public.
dan I watch those shows with my 6 year old daughter, I am happy they are toned down a bit. I want her to get involed in hunting which is why we watch them together. Not always about us, we have to have the smarts to see that.

Also for the record, Germs words were just fine with me in his deer pic post. To each his own, write or tell a story how youwant to.I am interested only in how many here have been wrongly led to believe that we will lose our rights to hunt by posting my deer pic and the fabricated story I wrote to go with it. My story was exaggerated as to how I talk on film or with my clients that don't hunt, I simply exaggerated the content to make a point. My point is that I cannot lose my right to hunt from this post withblood on a deer and a little rough language.BTW, the only people that watch hunting shows are hunters and possibly a few antis. The General public has no interest in watching hunting shows as it does not INTEREST them.

There's an old term, Don......

Let sleeping dogs, lie.

Why do what Ted did.....and risk waking them up?

That's the premise behind what Germ (and me and others) is saying.

Please understand....I am not arguing with YOU. I'm posting points of view.

I have a question......

How many people that dont hunt tune in to the Outdoor Channel or The Mens Channel to watch hunting anyhow? Probably not very many.
But this website sure might let the anti hunters know all the bad stuff going on out there and how hunters bark back and forth at each other.
I think hunters should worktogether. Sure we are going to have our differences. But having a 10 page gripe back and forth with each other sure isn't helping us!

I think some people on here post there comments not only to get there post numbers up but to start small wars against one another. Folks I have been bowhunting for more years then most on this website. And yes I have learned from some of the best hunters in the world. But I sure don't know everything.

Lets work together folks. Does the PETA website have a form on there website? If so are they bashing one another about how they tossed there salad and posted a pick of it?

Posts like this just don't help us as a group.

I just believe you can tell story without the "shock" value. HCH your story is just fine with me. There are a ton people who really do not care that we hunt, all I am saying is we do not rub them the wrong way. Call mePC, wussie, sensitive I really do not care.

HCH why is your buck so small[8D] I thoght they were all 190's in Iowa
Its not really shock value though, Germ. The words being used aren't being thrown in to spice the story up. Your story is just a toned down version of what happened.

If Don were to have blatantly exaggerated his story, emphasizing the gore involved in what we do, then that would have been added for shock value.

I think thats the main point being made, having to tone down a simple story because of the "shock value" involved just means we're catering to the anti's and non-hunting crowd. I'm not saying its wrong, but I don't believe its necessary either.
Dan if you notice the highlighted line, what I am saying young skywalker is this; there is no need to get non-hunters all riled up and rub there face in it. The "TedHead" think they can spot off anything because it is their "right". If folks do not like it tough!! Why rub it in to 80% people face who really do not care. Why take a chance a converting 1 of them to an anti?

On this forum tell it like it is, Don's post is fine, but please have the smarts when your in public(company you do not know) to tone it down.

Dan I work in a pretty liberal town, I have all my pictue here at work, and a nice srap book my daughter made. When people ask to look at it I let them know. "There are picture of dead deer, and coyotes in traps in the book, I just want to let you know" 99% they take a look and ask some question. No big deal, a little kindness goes a long way.

Plain and simple, most of us do not like things shoved in their face. So lets not shove hunting in people faces. Let the ARA do that and trip all over themsleves.

Yes HCH I am PC bowhunter in certain situations, and I am proud of it.
These 80% aren't having it rubbed in their face, you are missing the point in that this 80% doesn't care about hunting and doesn't watch hunting shows or look at hunting forums. They simply are not INTERESTED. Do you get it yet?

My 6 year old watches them Don, she is not a hunter yet, LOL

Don it is not your one picture or story that will tip the scale. If as a group we start to irk the voters we could be in trouble. It can be swayed either way.

I did a speech at are hunting club about the Dove Bill. If we as hunters in MI could have got 3 family members to vote with us it would have past. For the record I called 50 and did not convert 1, I suck. Same as in Iowa, song bird issue. If you take the numbers to bowhunting it works about the same way. All they anti's have to do is convert 3 to their side and were done. Really kind of scary!

Please show me where most of the bowhunting community doesn't agree with me. Please offer me proof where I am "hendering the sport by portraying it in a bad light."

The topic is being a PC bowhunter. So my response was directly related to people that refuse to be PC. My statement was, "My whole point is that you may NOT loose the right to bowhunting but you are hendering the sport by portraiting it in a bad light to the general public."

translation: If you go out of your way to avoid being PC then you are hurting the sport.
