RE: delayed gratification
White, You are the first so called trophy/big buck hunter Ive seen to set a standard at 100". That's a little small dont you think. In many areas a 2.5 year old buck has at least 100". Set you standards a little higher kid.;)

[blockquote]quote: ORIGINAL: buckhunter1980 [blockquote]quote: ORIGINAL: whitetailsoldier [blockquote]quote: I am in the kill deer part, although I don't shoot small bucks anymore. Just the mature bucks. [/blockquote] WHY? [/blockquote] Becuase shooting the big bucks is much more of a challenge than shooting the young bucks. Not saying that all young bucks are dumb, but it seems like the mature bucks present much more of a challenge to hunt. I still eat the meat off of a mature buck, but the younger Doe's are the one's that taste the best. I also like to the way the mount looks on my wall and the unspoken excitement you get from shooting a big mature buck. For everybody that has shot a big buck they know what I am talking about. After a while that kind of excitement wears off when you shoot small bucks, because you know the feeling you get when you shoot a big buck. I am not taking anything away from anybody that want's to shoot small bucks because it is alway's fun to shoot deer [/blockquote] I already replied why I shoot deer. It seems when people answer you still ask why. I shoot deer cause I can, and if I couldn't I would shoot somthing else, that is all you need to know. It does't matter why people do what they do, it matters that we live in a nation that give's us the freedom to do this. Thank a soldier, and don't forgett why they fight. For you to start a thread like this. |
RE: delayed gratification
I do believe that when the native americans HUNTEDthey probably did not look for the buck with the largest rack but hunted for the biggest deer that would provide the most food also taking the first shot they got so they could nourish themselves

RE: delayed gratification
Soldier above you said your calling out peoples excuses for shooting little bucks. Where are you getting that people are making excuses for doing it. Some people like to shoot little ones other people like to shoot big ones and others frankly dont care. People all have their own opp and shoot what they want. And i can garrentie you that if people are shooting little bucks or does or whatever their are no excuses and their proud of it no matter what it is. I personally will shoot any deer im 19 and love deer meat i shot five this year two being bucks a 6 and 5 pnt. And if I wouldnt of shot them someone else would of i hunt public land dont have private that i could manage otherwise i would. but people will do what they want so deal with it you got your own land so stop your wining and manage it how you want. and if you got a poching problem take care of the potchers. but you wont win this and it seems like you wanted to just raise trouble.
COME ON DUDE,Don't make it something its not. If it doesn't matter why, who are you posting to?second off, I'm reiterating the fact you only shoot mature bucks, It's what you said......Obviously you let the little guys go to become bigger. They're "dumber"I don't know i'm just quoting you now....so squash it!
Squash what? Your not making sense. Just becuase your idea of a big buck is 100" isn't the same as anybody else. In Wisconsin (I would presume is just about the same as it is in Illinois) 100" isn't that big. Most deer up here are only 2 1/2 to 3 1/2. that isn't a mature buck is it? A good mature buck would be a5 1/2 to 6 1/2 year old buck right? So you if you are shooting 100" bucks, that would mean you are shooting YOUNGBUCKS. |
RE: delayed gratification
hey soldier i noticed that in another post you live in your moms basement and our 47 I dont know your story but you seem to like to cause commotion so how bout the fact that you still live at home are you trying to cut others down for shooting little deer because you happend to get a couple decent deer and are trying to justify something else in your life? j/w

RE: delayed gratification
whitetailsoldier,
I am very very familiar with the awesome genetics of deer that are in and surrounding the Woodstock, Illinois area. I live not more than 30 minutes away. I realize that their are many people around you who probably shoot deer much smaller than you prefer to take. But this fact does not make you any greater or lesser of a deer hunter. Think before you post such a thread. THEN STOP. Walk a mile in another mans shoes.. and see what matters to him. And perhaps... perhaps.. you'll learn something more about yourself. Besides, everyone knows how easy it is to kill big deer in Illinois.;) |
