In Olympic National Park, backpackers are encouraged to only pee in the maintained hiking trails because blacktail deer will seek out the pee spots and dig up the ground for the salt content.
I have personally seen a deer digging at a pee spot about 10 ft in front of my tent in the middle of the night.
I don't know if they like or dislike the odor, but the salt content will definitely attract them, much like a salt lick.

One thing I've learned from this post...never accept a bottle of gatorade from a deer hunter, I don't care how thirsty you are.

I heard a story where two hunters hunting the same woods had a conflict. seems the one hunter found a honey hole, hung a stand and came a few days later only to see the other hunter hung a stand 2 trees away. Upset he took down his own stand adn peed in the 3 scraps in bow distance from the stand thinking he would put the screws to the guy.
Well that next morning the guy shot the biggest buck he ever laid eyes on freshing up the scraps the guy peed in.
Ironic how karma works
