Not too much farm land around here, just a lot of wilderness and when theres about a couple feet of snow on the ground and we fire the chain saw up to buck up firewood and take a break the deer are feeding on it. The blow downs with the moss (witches hair) is what the deer are attracted too along with fresh firshoots and fireing up a chain saw around here is like ringing a dinner bell. Fall down some trees during the rut and attract the does and the big boys don't care if you have a Mack truck. I've seen some nice bucks in areas where equiptment was still being used.
This is not always the case as the time of year and food source has a lot to do with it.

I will be scouting my butt of the next couple of months on my new property. Just so I won't have to be walking around on it during the season and bumping the deer onto the neighbors. The woods are really easy to see thru at this time of year and you can get a good feel of the travel routes and lay of the land.

Glad this post came back up, these comments just reminded me of something i have been wanting to do for two seasons. I have a 8" diam tree with alot of branches betweena favoritestand, and where the deer, 8 times out of ten, funnel through the area at 28 yards. This is a good time to fire up my chainsaw, get rid of the tree, drag it and place it stratigicly to make them funnel through at around twenty yards. good post Scott, i cant believe i missed when it first came out.
