I haven't taken one with my bow either but that was by choice.I let a bunch walk this year.I actually had 1 day that 7 deer were less than 8 yards.[:o]

I live in the Western part of the state.There is better hunting in the western part.

There is a really good public area about 20 minutes from me called Higginson Henry.They have a 15"outside spreadminimum on bucks.


Give me a hollar if you might want to check it out.

I like the rulefor a couple public places like that but I am not in favor of it for the whole state.

To unfair to those that are not interested in trophy hunting.

Higginson Henry also has a small motel that is in the middle of it (privately owned and clean)and primitive camping.

This place is 5000 acres. and easily accesable.The nice part about the restriction,it keeps alot of locals away.So it isn't as heavily hunted as some public areas.:eek:but it does have it's fair share of hunters.


I forgot to mention,it is a bow only area.;)

So when can I expect to see you?

im always up for a ky bow hunt since all i have to do is step out side.[8D] how good de we have it tho seriously? Sept.2-Jan.15. 4 1/2 months solid. i hunt south western ky in Butler County. anywhere in western ky has great trophy potential.

Thanks TFOX. It was the hunt of a lifetime. I even got one that had a metal & red tag in its ear. One of the oldest from North Dakota.

Im in as far asa roadtrip. I go to school at Murray, so Eastern KY shouldnt be to bad a haul for me.We could just get together at my dorm & I can put you guys on your choice of a whitetail, Bison, or bull Elk...Just make sure you bring bail money...:D:eek:

Count Me in, No need for a Motel, I got ken folk down that way!! I personaly know, or knew, a few book size Bucks off of H&H. But I give you fair warning, be prepaired to be eaten alive in Sept. There is other landI might still be able to get access too. Let me know, I'm going regardless. Would like to meet you all!

TFox, what property are you talking about? I thought you all were talking about the eastern part of the state..Im 10 minutes from LBL so were talking about my backyard. Sliver, the bugs actually werent bad this year. We got in the mid 40s in mid Sept. If we've got 5+ bowhunters on this place, one of us is bound to put a big velvet buck on the ground. ;)

TFOX I think your right, I also have Hunted both, and would pick H&H. NO doubt PSE, Someone's bound to score. I thought Germ was talking about Eastern KY to, but he is easly influenced with big Bucks. Germ I can't remember if there is camping on H&H or not, I will find out this week. If thay don't,I'm sure I can get permission to camp at Pleasent Valley Archery club, just a short drive from there. Dang its almost 10 months away and I'm already excited.
