My dad and 2 or 3 other guys and me are planning a trip to go shed hunting in Kansas in the next couple of months. We would like to go in the NE part of the state since itwould be a shorter drive fromwhere we live in Wisconsin. We were wondering month is best to go look for whitetail sheds in Kansas? What are some good public areas in NE Kansas to shed hunt ornear whattowns are good areas to look? Do the public lands in Kansas get alot of people looking for sheds? Thank you! I would also appreciate any other info on shed hunting there.

Cant help youas far as Kansas goe'sbut in my area (southern Indiana) March is the hot ticket. I have found them as early as late Feb. but March is when i have my best luck. Kansas has some real big boys that might drop sooner than around here. I have always belived (just my opinion) that when you have a balanced buck to doe ratio and the bucks are competing with each otherfor the Doe's, that they go thru more stress than say when there areplenty of Doe'sand they do not have to compete with each other so much. I believe that the stress factor will make them drop a little sooner because they have let there nutrition become second in there life over breeding does. Harsh winters may be a factor also. like i said just my opinion. If the trip works out for i hope you find many of them and we expect to see pics.

I can help with that question. Late Feb. or March would be your best bet. I live in NE Kansas. Hillsdale Kansas would be a good place to start with alot of ground for you to search. There are other areas close by, you might Google the Kansas Fish and Game for more info about public land. Let me know if you need more info or help. Chris
