Some guys buy the book for scounting, if they are going to buy some land to see what type bucks are in the area.
I have never and will never enter a deer I shoot, I don't want folks to know In MI it is I think it is about 20.00 bucks for Commertive Bucks Of MI to enter your buck in the record books.

If you think it needs to be raised because you just think it is getting way too easy to kill a P&Y buck....Well all I can say is your feelin pretty big in your britches!!!!

If anything itshould be weighted for what region you live in. For example, a 125" deer in Florida is much more of a trophy than the same deer in the mid west. Of all the hunters that I personally know, only5 have killeda P&Y deer... I've been bowhunting for 15 years and have only SEEN 3-4. I got lucky and killed one of them, lost another one.

So, in some states, it is still EXTREMELY difficult to kill a P&Y deer.

On the surface....I tend to agree with you. It would be the same (as I'm sure you'd agree) if there were such a book for bass fishing. Your state is an AWESOME holder of record bass. I wouldn't think a bass fisherman in MI would think he had the same chances at a "record" bass as you would.

Is that a fair analogy?

Its hard to kill a pope and young in any state. Some states raise them better than others. In Kansas you get one ANTLERED deer permit. Say it out loud with me. ONE. Our state herd is est. around 350,000. Thats one of the lowest numbers of deer population in the country. Knowing that you get only one buck per season most hunters here hold out for either a large rack or a muture big body to fill their freezers. This lets the little guys walk therefore leaving a quality herd. No need to raise the P&Y system.

I agree, and for the record, I live in Mississippi, I was just using Florida as an example...
