Here is my bear from 2003, he was a little guy, only120 pounds. He only gave one death moan. Sorry about the pic, this was the next morning on the way to the butcher, its the only one I have here at work.

The death moan will make the hair stand on end. This last spring, the boar I killed let out 5-6 and it echoed through the canyon I was baiting. I will never forget that noise.

This is 2005, this one was coal black, even the muzzle. the hide looks like hell because it died in the creek.

Here is 2006, it is on the opposite side of the color spectrum, This one was real blonde. I shot this one standing up facing me at 12 yards. I hunt bears from a ground blind. It can get real fun at times.

ORIGINAL: Big John

Rob- to this day I can hear those moans, so human like it scared the beegeezus outta me, and I don't scare easily after 41 yrsof carrying a bow around. Reminds me of the time at dark one night hunting when a screech owl let off a scream. For a week I had to use brylcream to keep my hair down.
LOL, I hear ya...the worst I had it was in Canada fishing one time. I heard the Sasquatch howl....I wouldn't leave the cabin execpt to run to the boat. I figured I was safe on water. I was a late teenager..lol

Kenman, very nice

Elkcrazy8, your right and nice bear.

John Deer, nice claws.

Elkcrazy8, he squared a little over 6 feet. His skull measured 19.75. There are some unbelievable bears up there. I'm headed back the first week of May '07.

That is a good bear. Congrats to you. Our bears here in Idaho are smaller, but we have some great color phase to them. The pure black one in the pic measured at just over 17 inches, but is impressive because it was an old sow. Her teeth were worn down to nothing. I probably did her a favor.
