Season ended, Saturday
#1

I went Saturday morning.....with the full intention of taking a doe. Well....the scenario every "Murphy" fan would describe, unfolded. I saw 6 deer.......the last of which was the only one that presented a shot opportunity. Problem......NO TAG for the bull of my woods. This is the deer that I hit and injured on day 4 of our archery season. I saw him the day after Thanksgiving....but I honestly thought my neighbors had poached him. It was a GREAT way to end an awesome season.
I'll gather in the stands, this week/weekend.....and start getting ready for gobblers. I know the photo is blurry.....but this guy's the bull of my woods. It was a pleasue just to SEE him, again.
I know, sometimes, it's hard to judge whether a deer is 1-1/2; 2-1/2; etc...BUT....you absolutely KNOW when you've encountered a MATURE BUCK. This guy is a mature buck....we have a history....and it will be a PLEASURE to pursue him again, next season.
I hope everyone had as fulfilling a season as I did (or ....you're still HAVING). Good luck to everyone.
Sincerely,
Jeff

Jeff, a great season indeed and one your going to look back on for years and years to come. Not only will you have the mount of your Babe Ruth buck but your piebald, Ashely's doe, your first buck and me...LOL
That buck there looks wide although it's hard to tell in the photo. He definately is bigger bodied than any deer I encountered when I was down. It's a good feeling to know he'll be there next year, if he avoids the cars and I look forward to spring gobbler.

Rob:
This deer won't score as well as the one I took, last week....but he's a legitimate 200+#'er.......and the mass on his antlers is awesome. I don't know any other way to describe it except.....he looks like a BULL when he's in your presence. He's just head and shoulders above anything I've ever seen in the wild.
If I NEVER harvest this deer.....it'll be a pleasure just seeing him from time to time. He's a bull.
