Default Rattling Antlers?

Anyone here know the proper way to prepare real antlers to be used for rattling. I want to make my own and can not seem to find the procedure. Thanks for any help.

i really don't know any more then just cut them off @ the base of the skull & drill a hole in the bottom of each & use a boot string to tie them together one on each end . they do smell as your cutting & drilling them[X(]

If the antlers you plan on using have significant brow tines, cut them off. Nothing worse than rattling in the cold and smashing your fingers together because of those brow tines.

Sometimes I cut the tips off so they don't reach around and bite you as well.
