I dont know that id wait for an O.K. from anyone if they were killing my livestock.I do alot of trapping all over the country and ive never had one in one of my traps waiting for me.I hope i dont either,till we have a seasion.Im not loosing my license over killing one.

I wouldn't kill one just because he was doing what I was doing. KILLING DEER! Why is it right for me to kill a deer for my own pleasure and a wolf or coyote must die for killing a deer just trying to survive? I guess it's just human greed taking over once agian.

SR, yes, I shot him in Canada. He is the third one I have shot in the last few years and is the biggest. He was 125 lbs and had some freshcuts under his chin. I can't wait to get him back.

I still have no opinion on the wolf issue in WI. Where I hunt in Canada, there are a lot more wolves than there are in WI and not nearly the number of deer. Yet the deer population is doing very well.

I think a lot of people still have the old lynch mob mentality when it comes to wolves. Very few people truely understand them.

Its realy not a healthy one you need to worry about so much.And there are plenty of deer to go arround.My nephue shot a doe this year and she ran into a hole in the brush,with a big black wolf right behind it.I guess it was just that deers day,She was getting ate one way or another.When he told me a wolf took his deer i was realy blown away,but after i hung up,I thaught Who was taking whos deer?I dont like them,They were killed off for a reasion.They are distructive to our livestock,and they will eat you.Now the packs will have to grow to nusance size before we start the slow process of killing them off again.I wonder how many people will get tore up and eaten before that happens.In San diego little kids and grown ups get bitten by coyotes all the time.Hit google and southern calif.coyote attacks.it will show the last 80 or so attacks reported.Most go unreported.So before you get in bed with the wolves,take a good look at one up close,and ask yourself who is the fittest,and do i want to survive!

HMMMM, this post confused me. It seemed to change directions half way through.[8D]

They were killed off because of mans green and they were severely misunderstood.

There has only been one report of a human being killed by a wolf. It happened last year, I believe, in Northern Saskatchewan.

I have seen many wolves in the wild. All but one time they ran like hell. Every other person I have talked to,has had the same experience. The one time theydid not run was when I shot the Alpha female and her pups (70lb males)stood by her when she was dead and one circled me. At the time I did freak out. Mainly because Iwas using a muzzleloader and was trying to reload. But after realizing what had happened, there was nothing to worry about.

After living with the wolves, I believe most peopleseverely misunderstand them andare livingwith an outdated way of approachingthecurrent situation.

Im not whole heartedly against wolves like i am coyotes.In the deep woods is where they were for 100 years and they didnt bother anyone with the exception of a few folks who venture up there to wolf country.A wolf is a powerfull animal and most people are not fast enough,or smart enough to save themselves in the event of an attack.There are more every year(wolves) and they are comming closer in to town. I think it was a dirty trick to play on the wolves bringing them into farmland and expecting them to be good,stay away from people and dont eat them.Its gonna happen.I just hope its not me or someone i know.Im not trying to B.S. anyone.I dont have a degree in wolfoligy Im just speaking from the heart,and relaying a few observations.I know in feb when coyotes are chasing mates,all you gotta do is smell like a male dog to make your chances of an attack better.They want to protect whats theres.I understand that.I also understand what a wolf can do to a person if he doesnt realise i only smell like a male dog because i just got done playing with him.The wolves shouldnt have been brought here,thats my bottom line.

Hey _Dan do you have a link to that wolf-kill? I've done research on wolves in college and as far as I know there has never been a documented case of a wolf killing a human, ever. Mostly they are perceived based on mythos as being man killers but there is no evidence of that. Would be interested in reading that article. I'll try a google search.

Talondale, I don't have a link. I believe it was in Outdoorlife and a few other places. It happened in either the Fall of 2004 or 2005. It was a 23 year old college student doing, I believe, forestry work in Northern Saskatchewan. Let me know if you find it.
