Default No throat patch????

My buck I'm having mounted has a TINY throat patch. Almost non-existent.

Is this common? I JUST noticed this.

Jeff

Hmm Jeff, that's a good question, I'll have to start looking more at mine through the years. I guess I'm not noticing becuase it seems common to me it should be there, in fact double throat patches are prolly more common then none...another good reason he'll make a coll mount.

The doe I took this year in NY didn't really have one...........

With that said, one of my best buds shot one a while ago that had 2 throat patches.

That does look crazy. I have seen few deer without a throat patch.

I don't recall ever having seen a deer without some white on the throat. Almost looks like a stag....well, except for the horns...lol. Your buck has a nice reddish tint to it and the nose looks brown. Is it really not a black nose or was there blood covering it? I'd say that would make a dandy mount. Very unusual!

Yeah. I tried to clean him up real good before the photos.....but he does still have some blood on his mouth area. I'm sorry about that.

Pretty cool. I don't recall ever seeing a deer without a throat patch. I've seen many with two throat patches, in fact, I've killed at least 3 that have two.
