any big bucks will be holding does still find the does and you will have a good chance .food source will be key after rut the bucks will be eating alot to gain calories lost from rut, alfalfa and does will position you well for a great buck from illinois during late season hunt. just saw 4 does and a little 6 tonight out from the funnel into the field.

I think that your best chance for a big one will be around the prime food source in the evening. The big ones will be checking on fawns and does that weren't bred yet. Second rut.

This is right after our second gun season so they may still be in the nocturnal mood and half scared to death.. lol
But they should still be with does and it's probably going to be cold so food is a plus.. Find the does, find the food and you might find a buck...

nocturnal mood and half scared to death
No kidding...
Heck, I didn't even see any deer act 'normal' after 10AM on the opening day...everything I saw was walking on eggshells or mo-docking away from hot lead.

I usually hang the bow up after the first firearm weekend and go hunt geese and yotes.
