Personally I've never missed or lost a deer with a bow or a gun. I'm 6 for 6 with a gun and 5 for 5 with a bow. I guess I'm just lucky....

Or maybe its because I only take broadside shots 25 yards or less with a bow. Hell even my gun deer were all within 40 yards and broadside.

Maybe if people were more careful about shot selection the wounding rates would be lower for both bows and guns! Then what would the anti's say?

But it's their 'right' to go hunting. Yes, it's their RIGHT, but along with that right comes a whole mess of responsibilities. If they don't want to fulfill those responsibilities, then they have no business partaking of that right. In my not-so-humble opinion, we bowhunters would be far better off if those folks would sell their outdoors gearand take up golf.
Hold on Arthur, Golf is a great sport. These guys are only fit for bowling!!![8D]

We have several main issues I feel contribute to the wounding rates in Bowhunting

1. Poor Tracking
2. Folks hunting with light arrow and Mech Broadhead.
3. Poorly tune bow.
4. TV guys taking bad shots.
5. See No 1.
6. People who do not know where the vitals are.
7. See No 2.
8. People not knowing where the hit the deer.

I forgot, Taking bad shot!!! Should be no 1

I have a database of the "I lost one" thread. Most of the time they are using a Mech with to light an arrow.Numbers do not lie!!

For me it is and always will be an issue of freedom. A free society must be willing to live with mistakes.

I agree wholeheartedly it's about freedom. If someone isn't willing to put forth the effort required to do a thing to at least a competent level, they have absolute freedom to not participate. And I'll support them in that decision all the way.

This reports seems to have a lot of dated information. I think it also shows that we can be our own worse enemy, just look at where they go some of the info, bow hunting magazines, bow hunting books...
