RE: Hunters Safety System vest question

I don't know what you guys are talking about not being able to wear a jacket over the vest? I wear mine all of the time underneath my jacket with the teather sticking out of the top of my jacket by my collar. The part I didn't like was the strap that attaches to the tree. So I just used the rope with the prussic knot and the caribiner that came with my summit treestand, it makes for an easier hookup to the tree for my liking.

HCH, the newer Hunter safety system harnesses do come with a linemans hookups on the vest. I do agree the sop harness is a good harness too but I just lthink the HSS is easier and quicker to put on. I love mine.

HCH, I see Summit makes about 3 different models. Is this the one you are talking about?

RE: Hunters Safety System vest question

No, this is it. There is a rear pocket that runs across your whole rear that has two snap buttons and this holds your safety ropes. I carry two ropes; one for the linesmans harnass and another for the middle of the back tether. This way am never unhooked while switching from the linesman to the actual safety harnass beforer stepping unto the treestand.

That's the one I'm looking at buying HCH.
Now,if they'd only make it in Enigma Camo:D
Oh well, I'd wear it under my jacket anyway.

No complaints on it?
I have 100.00 in Cabela's bucks to spend

Here it is on their website. says linesmans climbing strap with buckle. I REALLY like the rope and prussic knot for easy length adjustablity. I don't know anything about that one. It says new on their website here.

RE: Hunters Safety System vest question

I had a HSS vest for two weeks. I did not like the vest at all. IMO, its WAY too bulky and heavy. I knew I had it on. The clunky seat belt buckles, along with the sheer weight reminded me of that. I switched back to a new SOP, like HCH has mentioned and can't be happier. The buckles are quick, secure and you don't know they are there and its easy to put on. Plus, the prussic knot system they incorporate is the best I've seen.

The other thing that really had me concerned was the leg straps on the HSS. Put it on and go and hang from it. If you really had a slip and fell out of your stand, you might be talking in a little higher pitch. The straps end up right on your jewls. I realize its still better than the 20 ft trip to the ground, but why make it painful? There was a good review of this vest on another site and it stated the exact same thing.

IMO, the SOP is the best on the market.

RE: Hunters Safety System vest question

Simplicity was the main issue for me, I have the fabric vest and like it alot. It is heavy but I have gotten use to it. It is very easy and QUICK. Only thing I don't like is once my cam hit the buckle and made a clink.[:@]
But I do like the system.
