I'm a loner too. Have taken my 10 year old son once this year. The deer I ended up shooting had come in a week earlier to grunts and at about 30 yards my son got sick and heaved in the ground blind. Didn't get him that day but did bag him a week later.

Out of 20 + yrs. of hunting , 10 % of the time Ive hunted with a friend or a co-worker, though I like to hunt alone. To me,I dont have to worry about the person being lost or following me every step of the way in the woods! During the bow hunt of elk in early Sept.the weather is some what mild, I like to backpack for 8-9 miles in the woods ,thats why some other friends dont put in with me ,there afraid of the dark Ive taken some big bulls early in the morning in meadows where horses couldnt travel in them hills ,to dang rough ! Now my boy has passed hunters ed. hell be my hunting parner for life ...if I can keep up with him ...

I hunt almost all the time with a buddy, but i think im going to start hunting alone a few times to see if i have better luck. It is fun to hear there stories at the end of the day though.

I think you would be most successful hunting alone although it sure is nice to have a buddy to help trail a wounded deer or drag one out of the woods. I live in missouri and do most of my hunting in illinois and its nice to have someone to share expenses.

Am going to start to hunt by myself when its
for him any thing is ok but if I want to stay
for an evening hunt, etc. its a different story
will try the rest of the season alone its is
supposed to be a two way street!
