Default Question for Midwest folks.

I haven't had a chance to get out hunting in the past week. The high today in central IL is supposed to top out around 72 degrees and yesterday was about the same. What are you all seeing in the woods. Are the deer rutting hard yet. Or has this warm front slowed down the rutting activity some. I went out a couple of evenings early last week and saw some rutting activity heating up. Has it slowed down or picked up since then. I guess its supposed to cool back down into the 40's and 50's next week. That will definately be a good thing. It's killing me not being able to be out there and was just wanting to hear about what you folks are seeing out there. Have a great day.

They are ready to pop here in MO. The rub activivity has really picked up, but strangely enough they seem to be ignoring their scrapes now. Most of the activity is at night though. We need a good cold front to get them moving.

But, deer are deer regardless of weather, and the rut is the rut, so who knows.

You're a luckier man than I.

After spending a few (5) years out of highschool, I decided to go back to school. Currently living in St. Louis, no vehicle. Haven't even stepped foot in a timber since July, shot my bow, or anything else hunting related.(going nuts down here)Fortunately I am heading back tonight to get prepped for next weekend(gotta at least do some hunting this year...)

I'm starting to get tired of my friends calling me up," Man, just seen a MONSTER from the road right next to where you hunt!!"

Im in MO and the bucks are still rutting even though temperatures have been in the 70's the past couple days. They are however only moving late at night. HOpefully this cold front will get them moving early.

This weekend is supposed to be in the 50s for a high in MO and in the 30s for a low. I think there will be a lot more morning activity with the cooler temps being in the morning, but then again you never know with the rut.

I also live in IL and hunt in Clark county, this last weekend I went Thurs-Sun morning. Thurs. morning I seen 34 does and not a single buck. Seen 2 very small bucks Friday. And Saturday morning seen those 2 small bucks chaseing 2 does. Seen a big body deer come into the corn field for about 30 sec. then went back into the woods about 200 yards away. By Sunday the weather was warming and seen like 3-4 does was all. I think if they are rutting hard, it's mostly at night. But the weekend of gun season 17-19 is calling for highs in the mid 40's with lows in the low 30's....could be interesting for the gun hunters.

I am seeing a lot of deer movement while out driving in my truck at work between 10am and 2pm. I sat out tuesday night and tonight and saw no activity. If I had free time right now I would be on stand from 10-2.
