I read a book that Germ turned me onto by a man named Mark Brooks. he said that deer get spooked all the time and run through the woods. He said we sound like a couple of deer running when we run through the woods......and that this wouldn't spook them. Heck....I'd already bumped about 10-15 trying to be stealth.....so I figured what the heck.

I swear to you I never heard a deer bump after I started running. Could be because I already bumped them all......but who knows?????....lol

Here in MO that path you raked would last about 30 minuts this time of year. Least where i hunt.

All of my leaves are pretty much down. Just needs a quick brush off every now and then.

Okay folks I'm going to give you all the secrets at once:

1. Walk heel to toe gently;
2. Do not start and stop;
3. Run if you want to; and
4. Most important to keep your scent down eat field corn and clover for
24 hours prior to hunting and you'll smell like an cow. (And after it
gets through your system, you can make some pretty realistic
cowpies too!)

I also have heard of this and sometime back in the early 90's I was watching a show about moose's. The guy was walking just like that and had a mounted cow head on his chest and was able to walk up to a giant bull moose. Sounds silly but i have done it and it seems to work.

running to where stand will definately jump deer or at least let them know somethings there.

go in the dark.it works the best.if you go in the light just still hunt your way to your stand you may just get lucky.

Someone on here a month or so ago suggested making turkey calls as you walk to your stand, since they are a (relatively) large two-legged animal, which made sense to me. I don't know if that'd pass muster in the dark of morning, since turkeys aren't generally off their roost then, but I don't know if deer are smart enough to put that together.
