Default 2nd Buck down

Saturday 11-4-2006, This afternoon I went to my favorite spot where I have taken 2 doe and my 8 pointer earlier this season. It is a small strip of public land near a recycling center used by the department of public works, but today it was open to the public. Very busy there, knew that would be a bust. I went on up the road to another piece of public land I have not hunted since last year. As I walked in toward an area I was familiar with, I noticed many buck rubs on the trees. I followed a little trail to a knoll that looked promising. I made a mock scrape and squirted some Tinks 69 in there. I was up the tree by 2:57 and settled in. Slight breeze, 42 degrees. I decided to make a little noise with the grunt tube… 3 quick short grunts, then 2 more aggressive ones. Man! Within 2 minutes I hear something in the leaves coming right up the trail I walked in on…. Buck…. Nice buck with his nose down like a hound dog. He comes right in to the scrape I just made 10 yards from my tree. I could not believe it! Grab the bow…. ZING…. Down he went! Right before my eyes…. I watched him take his last breath within one minute of the shot…. Right in the scrape I made.
What an awesome hunt! He has 7 points. Got some character to his rack…. I am proud of him.

Very nice buck, congratulations. I know it is often hard to harvest a decent buck on public land. Nice job
