If you want to go light weight and easy, do what I do. I have a cardboard decoy picture of a doe I use which weighs less then a pound and has metal rods that stick in the ground and I carry horns to rattle with but also carry a book bag and put the horns in it. The decoy I used at first glance you wouldn't think it would work. However I have used mine a couple of times when bucks were beginning to chase and weren't paying much attention to grunts and sounds so I got something to catch it eyes as he went running down a path. I also used scents with my decoy when I choose to use it. However I never rely on the decoy or rattling just do it sparingly.

Man I tell you what, you guys may have better success, but I know I enjoy my hunting more than you! That sounds way too much like work... I leave work to go hunt, not hunt to work! Go where the deer are and traveling and you won't need decoys...
Sit in the tree and sip some coffee and enjoy. I had a great time this morning, drank some coffee, ate some good food. Never saw a deer but watched a beaver play in a stream for about two hours. To me, that is hunting! I'm gong to bring mycamcorder and film himeither this evening or tomorrow morning. What a cool animal. The water looked really cold, but he sure seemed to beenjoying himself,with out a care in the world.

I've got a buddy with a decoy and it works like a champ, and here is what he does. The decoy is in a army bag fully assembled and hung up in a tree. The posts that is stands on are in the ground at all times. He unties a knot in the rope, lowers the decoy via a pully hung in the tree and tosses the bag in the woods. This decoy is in a food plot. Its purpose is to get the other deer to feel safe and come out before dark. He swears by it. I've seen it work, but then again I've seen deer go into a feild before dark anyway. But.... He doesn't carry it everywhere!
