Default Conventional Bow Hunting Vs Crossbow

Here's another one that is bothering me. Last January I had to have a rotator cuff, 3 tendons and cartledge in my right shoulder repaired. I am still unable to pull my compound bow back. I am eligible for a temporary crossbow license for the year. Take it or pass and hope the shoulder is better by next bow season?

I couldn't give up a season, if that's your choice, take it and work back into your compound when able. Just don't give it up.

If you have a crossbow or know someone that can loan you one, go for it. But I wouldn't buy a crossbow just for one season. I'd sit the season out, save all the money I would have normally spent for hunting, and buy something nice for next season.

I was given a crossbow by my son for Father's Day. He told me the doctor informed him that it could take up to two years to get as good as it was going to get. I was touched that he knew how much I love to hunt and purchased me an expensive crossbow, but I always felt in my heart that using a crossbow was like calling in an air strike to get a single coyote. I did go as far as having the scope removed and peep sights installed on it to make it somewhat more fair....but still it feels like shooting a rifle.

I'm like Rob, I couldn't pass up a season.

Take the crossbow out and enjoy yourself.

Same range, less ke, and bigger drop at any range.....yep just like a rifle.
Don't give up on your season....It's still hunting.

It's legal so why not. Anything that gets more hunters in the woods is a great thing in my opinion. I wish other NY'ers shared the same views I did on this. I still won't join NY Bowhunters because of this. I personally have seen 3x people in other states that were able to hunt again because of crossbows and otherwise would not have been out there. Who are we to say they aren't allowed to hunt? They are welcome on my patch anytime...........
