well i was out ridin the 4 wheeler by a really small woods by i-69 (some of you guys may remember me askin about huntin it) and i jumped a young 8 pointer that was bedded like 10 yards in. i had my bow on the front just for something like this and when i got it off and got a clear shot he ran. i drove home and got my camo on and gave him some time to calm down. i came back and started walking up next to the interstate and i jumped him again he had no idea what it was cause i was grunting the whole way through the woods he stopped at about 40 yards. i got behind a hickory tree and started grunting some more, he kept circling back and forth up to about 20 yards. i drew and i had to wait on him to get past one limb and i would have a perfect shot. he stepped and i shot right under him. he took off to the edge of the woods but then he came back again. i should have had another 20 yard shot but he never came out from behind a thicket and then he smelled me and took off. sorry about the long post, but i had to share.

Hunting on the ground can be tough. Especially when they are already on alert. Don't let that shake your confidence. Getting that close stalking a buck is hard to do. That experience should be a confidence builder!

sounds like an exciting time i look at it as a learning experience . It gives you a chance to try different strategies .I'll take times like that in the woods over sitting all day and seeing nothing any day
