I spent 3 hours in a stand Sunday AM. I was there from about 6-9. I didn't see anything so decided to go home and then make the late service at church. Well I got down too soon. On my way back to my truck I saw 6 deer including a nice buck that was about 100yds from my stand. Unfortunatly he saw me too. I was rather surprised to see that much activity late late in the morning. I will hunt again Wednesday evening and all of next weekend. The 28-29th are the last weekend of bow season here in Tx and will be my last chance to fill 2 more doe tags on my lease. After that it is buck only during general season.( I could travel to another county to fill doe tags during general season.) I plan to sit all day on both days next weekend. No telling when those critters might be moving!

When the moon is very small or no moon at all I always sit in my stand until 11:00 AM. The deer always seem to move around later in the morning, which is what it sounds like you expirinced. Last year I did it and I seen some deer just before sunrise but seen the majority of them from 9:00 to 10:00.

Getting closer to Nov. with a new moon means that deer will be moving more during the day. Pack a lunch and stay all day. You'll be surprised at how much movement you would have missed.
