the squirrel rut that is
I believe I saw more squirrels today than i ever have in my whole life, they chased each other for hours on end.It was really comical. I know it really wasnt the squirrels rutting but it was funny.but on the hunt
well i got to my stand this morning about 30 minutes before daylight, i was situated in my stand by 645. I waited and about 730 I decided to turn the can over a couple of times.I did and about 30 seconds later here comes a huge buck running up the hill towards me.I get up and get ready for a shot, then i realized he wasnt stopping so i started grunting, bleating, and everything else short of yelling at him. He had other things on his mind obviously. It honestly ewas the biggest buck ive ever seen while hunting, id say hed go 140 easy. After that, I saw a doe and a fawn, but I was wanting that buck so i didnt pull the trigger on the doe. I got down at about 11 and walked back to where the buck escaped and he must have just stayed there because he had made about 3 scrapes and about 5 or 6 horned trees and they werent there yesterday.Maybe this guy will hold in there for a while. It is unusual to have bucks that big around here. I dont think ill get another crack at him until next weekend after this afternoon
sorry for the long post but I know you guys enjoy some stories once in a while
