Default 10/12/2006 BUCK NEW PIC

This was my first set of the year. We hunt public land here in KS and usually have our best luck in Nov. But with the cold front on us I figured the deer might stay on there feet a litle longer in the morning. It was about 7:00 am so I decided to try a little calling. I have mixed results in Nov. and thought what the who. I soft grunted 2 times and turned the can over twice. Within 3 minutes a 2 1/2 yr old 10 points comes in looking. I thought great just not the right buck. About 5 minutes later a 2 1/2 yr old 8 point crosses in front. Another 2-3 minutes then a see a 3 1/2 yr old looking around by the creek. I get a pretty good look at him and decide to shot if the chance presents itself. He stops at 22 yds and I shot. He runs about 25 yds and just stops and starts looking around. Then he goes over a dump and is gone. I wait 15 minutes and get down and go look for blood and find good blood where he stoped. I try sneaking out and he crossed a road where I couldnt see and I think I jumped him. Come back in 3 hours find little blood because he is running. A long story is we finally got him at 3:00 pm and without alot of the info. I read on here it might not of turned out the same. Just a reminder if you are looking for a deer that might not be dead dont set your bow down and continue because it is to thick. It almost cost me. Sorry for the long post but I am happy we got him after a long trail job.His score is 135 5/8. Doug
