how many of you will hunt in the rain?? im not afraid to get wet..and i know deer dont mind the rain and still move in it..sometimes better...but im hesitant to hunt in the rain due to not having a blood trail. i know i know im missing some good hunting time..but i rather hit a deer and have blood to follow then hit it and hope i see it go down. any thoughts??

I was going to make a similar post last night, but didn't for some reason. I've never bowhunted in the rain for fear of a blood trail being washed away. If its a light mist is one thing, but i call it a day if its drizzling even. It sounds like a lot of guys on here do hunt in the rain. Are you worried about not being able to track a deer?

I got out today for an afternoon hunt. Knew it was going to rain, but thought I would get an hour or 2 in before it started. Wrong. 45 minutes into the hunt, drizzle, ok I can handle drizzle. Then after about a half an hour or so it raelly began to pour, so I was also thinking about a possible blood trail washing away with this down pour, so I called it a day. The rain was not as big a deal as not having all odds in my favor to track.

it all depends. I like to hunt in the rain but i am a little wooried about the blood and if its rainin i make sure if i do get a shot it is a PERFECT shot so i know i will kill the deer and will find it with in 30 to 50 yds.

I won't hunt in the rain. I posted a story about a doe I shot on tuesday night and the rain snuck up on me before I completed the recovery. I will be keeping a better eye on the weather from here on out. Don't want to go through that again.

I love hunting in the rain. Nobody else is ever out there. I aint too worried about the blood disappearing. I have tracked a few when there was no blood and i found them. I do limit my shots though I will not take anything but the most perfect shot and I make sure they are 20 yards or less.

not to sound like a smart @$$..but a couple of you said something along the lines of being more selective on shots...and taking JUST perfect shots. i wont take ANYTHING but a PERFECT shot on a NICE clear calm day let alone raining. we owe it to the animals to not make pin cusions out of them IMO...even "perfect" shots go bad or noone would ever wound or loose a deer. never know when you hit that invisible branch..or it jumps/ducks the string..or you tourqe or flinch etc etc..perfect shots go bad....i wont take a marginal or bad shot because if they go bad it can go REAL bad. im sure your guys just meant you like them closer in the rain but you understand what i mean?? just kinda...sounded bad...them perfect shots they drop within 50yds of the tree and you watch them go down is what we all strive for..but lets be realistic..even pros cant do that 100% of the time.....
