It's a shame that everytime someone comes on here to post a SUCCESSFUL story theres always that one person that has to critisize like they're better or wiser than the rest. Why is that?Rocky took the shot, and killed the deer, and he found the deer, that sounds like a successful hunt to me.Why all the preaching? No two people are alike, he felt confident in the shot (or he wouldnt have taken it). The successful hunt isover.
OK, I understand now, thanks for clearing that up. I guess I should have waited for an unsuccessful wounded deer thread tobring up and discuss shot placement and shooting at deer looking directly ata bowhunter. That makes a bunch of sense to me now. What was I thinking?

And BTW, I wasn't critisizing, I was trying to help prevent a future problem and maybe help correct possible misinformation.

Seems like the older I get the more respect I gain from organizations such as the Bowhunting Education Foundation. It's a shame there are those who believe they are so elite that they will not recognize the value of the information they give or feel their elitism makes them fall outside of information provided. The authors in their publications to me are the elite, ethical bowhunters. After seeing what I have thoughout the years, I'll stick with their opinions.

Rockytop, great story. I'm glad everything worked out so well for you. I've had a couple of similar experiences where the deer I would've had trouble tracking appeared while I was walking to my truck to drop off equipment that is unnecessary for tracking. Congrats!

Rocky obviously made the right decision based on the experience, but even more importantly, he didn't go and look for the deer right away.

Worst case scenario, he felt he was capable of making a fatal blow on the deer, took the shot, Contemplated the shot, but still did the most important thing.

1)Watched to see the direction of the deer, replayed the shot, and waited (I am not big on cut and paste, but i think i remember an hour wait, right)?

Rocky did everything right.....Great hunt......and even better as a story to tell!!! Hopefully, i will be able to have an experience like that.....Great Job

These are good days we are living boys!! We are jolly-green giants walking the earth.....With Bows!!!
