Do you get HIGH?
#34
Itdepends onthe terrain and my set up. I like to be at least 20' up, but sometimes the canopy does not allow me to go that high. You also have to consider the angle of your shout and make sure you compensate for the height.

High? Wait a minute.... Before I answer, is this 1976 or 2006?
(just kidding... just kidding...)
I climb to about 20 feet (22 feet in my favorite tree overlooking a big overgrown field of tickets, where I can intercept the deer, heading for cover).

like everyone said it will depend on the situation. the orchard im planning on hunting is a hill. i will be looking at the hill and its STEEP. thats where the trees are planted. farthest shot is probably 25yds..but 20 foot high and the deer will probably be parrallel with me. situations like that ill get higher if possible. i had a buddy i video taped for one year. i betcha he went 45-50 foot high. straight up limbless cherry trees..but he climbed to the end of his pull up rope..then evvvvver so carfully kept climbing. we rock climb together so we both didnt mind..but i didnt think anyone hunted that high...but he was in a situation like my orchard. they are the only 3 climbable trees in the area...and in the lowest spot. we were 45-50foot from the base of the tree..but they sat at the bottom of a depression thats already in a valley. i didnt like it for the fact that every time the wind blew we moved ALOT lol.
