Day 4, and meat in the freezer!

I was super excited about this evening's hunt. High pressure had moved in behind a cold front, and the wind was perfect for my favorite stand. It's on an inside corner of a cut bean field, and has several mature white oaks dropping acorns. Couple that with the persimmon trees, and 3 different trails leading into this corner, and you've got a recipe for success.I climbed my tree around 4:30, and after a small, weelittle nap settled in for a great evening. It had been slow, but prime time is just around the corner. It's now 7:00, and I am on my feet at full alert. Suddenly, to my left, out steps a doe at 25 yards. No, wait, make that 4 does! I am 25 feet in my tree, and the deer are slightly uphill from me. I estimate myself at maybe 15 feet above them, and they have not a clue I am anywhere in the neighborhood. The Enigma Camo worked to PERFECTION! I was able to grab my bow from the hook and draw w/out ever being detected. I settled my pin on the shoulder, and let fly. WHACK! And a perfect hit. She ran 50 yards and crumpled to the forest floor. What an exciting evening it was!It went somewhat bad after that, though. My van had a flat tire, I ripped my new Enigma pants changing it, and lost my cell phone!! I'm not so sure if it was a good night, or a bad one......

A huge congratulations from me too mobowhuntr, must be a MO night for taking big doe. Man, that Enigma looks great even with a black night and a camera flash. I'm getting more and more excited. I think that is the first whitetail taken with Enigma. Just think if ya had whacked that turkey...LOL In fact, iamyourhuckleberry took what 16 animals in Africa but yours might be the first North American animal. Congrats. That's extra points. LOL ;)

RE: Day 4, and meat in the freezer!

nodog, I tore them on a sharp piece of metal, no material would have stood up to that. I hate when that happens!

RDHunter, the straps were awesome!! In fact, I'm enjoying them right now!

Greg/MO, no, that's not my first archery deer....still waiting on my first buck however.

buckeye, the tire was most unexpected. In fact, my wife had the van and showed up after I called her about the doe. I had no other clothes, and fully trusted my Dead Down Wind gear for the short ride in my truck....But I hear what yer sayin my brotha!! We'll talk about it later...[&:]

Rob, found my cell, thankfully. That nearly drove me insane!! Oh, and I like Xtra points! Xtra points are good!! Now, if I could only find something to do with them...hmmmmm......;)[&:]

Glad to hear your cell phone found it's way home, congrats again mowbow, awesome photo too. Your field reviews are awesome on Enigma, what did you say, 5 yards to a those turkeys and you walked up on them to 15 yards, how cool?

mobow 09-19-2006 08:28 PM

RE: Day 4, and meat in the freezer!

Yes that's correct, Rob. I had birds at a mere 5 yards and they never saw me. It was very exciting. The more I use Enigma, the more confidence I have in it.

There you go Mo. Meat in the freezer now you can focus on that big buck. I went out tonight and didn't see squat. I had high expectations with the cool temps but nothin. That enigma looks like it might be a winner.
