Hello all! This is Greg's wife Alison. Greg told me he had written something about our little adventure last night, which really wasn't too bad, and I wanted to read what he had said. He described it pretty well. He did forget to say that he basically let Matthew "find" the deer after they had tracked it about 30 yards. I was up a few yards on a conservation gravel road resting a bit so that I didn't pass out on the way back to the jeep. But I heard Matthew yell, "There is the deer daddy! A deer! A deer! A doe! We found her!!" I really hope no one else within a 5 mile radius was trying to hunt because Matthew's enthusiasm for deer hunting comes out very loudly at three years old! He is so excited to be daddy's deer tracking buddy and often mentions when he gets bigger he will go hunting with daddy and be very quiet! Greg and I can't wait to see a time when he is actually awake and quiet at the same time!! It is a rare occurence at our house.
On a side note pay backs are hell! Evidently, I have passed on my germs to Greg and he got very ill last night and has been sick as a dog! I think I am going to suggest that tonight we go for a two mile trek in the woods and look at the pretty fall leaves!
I doubt that he will go for it but it might make him appreciate me a little more. Not that he doesn't already!! I am glad that I can support Greg in something he is so passionate about and enjoys so much ( and puts meat on our table) and there is no way any good mother would not indulge her son in any way she could with something he loves to do and enjoys being just like daddy!
Thanks to you all for your friendship with Greg, I know he enjoys you greatly!

Congrats to you and yours. Greg's a good egg, and I'm sure he's a great father and a good husband. It does me well to hear that the kids get involved with the experience and enjoy it. This is yet another example of how you don't necessarily have to take the kids hunting with you to get them involved, and those are memories that will stick with Matt forever.
You'll wanna start feeding the kids lots of Wheaties, and maybe put them in a weightlifting program, because Greg's getting awfullyold, and he won't be able to drag his deer much longer. In the meantime, just spike Greg's breakfast cereal with Ensure or Geritol to keep the wind in his sails until the boy gets a little older and can help him out. [8D]
