Early Season KY bowhunt

Early Season KY bowhunt
Just got back from my annual Ky early season bowhunt. I managed to miss a nice 8-pointer in full velvetat 18 yrds. Just put new sights on my bow and got focused on the 30 yrd pin for some reason. I think my eye picked up on the orange pin over my green 20 yrd pin. I'll recongnize him later in the year because he is missing a nice patch of fur off his back right behind the shoulders. On the plus side my buddy managed to stick this nice 9 pointer in full velvet.

Too bad about the miss, but it happens. Just out of curiousity, what speed is your bow shooting? I ask, because I am surprized that you have that big of a difference between 20 and 30 yards. I am not doubting you, just curious is all. I have misseda coupleanimals at that range myself, but those were because I choked under the pressure.

I am shooting a Hoyt ultra tech set at 62lbs. Not sure on the speed. I think it was a combination pressure choke and wrong pin. I have shot many deerthat arebigger than this one. Just hunted Ky the last three years trying to get 1 in velvet. I seen he was a decent buck that was perfectly symetrical during the 1st hour of the first hunt and it shook me a little.
