I am planning a late Aug. early Sept. bowhunt in NM. I currently own a pair of uninsulated Danners that I have had for several years and love them. I am going to buy a backup pair of boots and need advise. I have been considering the Irish Setter 868 GTX 11 Ground Sensing boot. Does anyone wear these? Any other suggestions would be appreciated?

Remsal, Just make sure that whatever you get are lightweight and uninsulated. It is going to be pretty hot here that time of year. I don't know anything about the boot you mentioned, sorry.

I used the ones from Cabelas called the GORE-TEX® Supprescent™ Silent Stalk™ Sneaker and was very happy with them. One word of advice tho, dont hit any cactus on the sides or you'll blow the stalk........it hurts !

If I were you, I'd get another pair of Danners (Elk Hunters). If you are loking to go a little cheaper, maybe look at the Cabelas Trophy Series boots. I have a pair that I'll be using in Colorado this year, in no way are they Danners, but they are decent.

. I've made two trips to NM muzzleloader season and ran into rattlesnakes on both hunts. I was wearing rubber bottom, leather upper LL Bean type boots.
