Default Deer Decoy Question

I would like to try a decoy this year but I really don't want toshell out the cash for one. What would be wrong with just using a 3D deer target instead of buying a special decoy? The only negative I can think of is the scent on the foam not washing off as good as the hard plastic. I am a little hesitant afterbuying the Pretty Boy Turkey set last year.

Yeah, they will work. Used a McKenzie myself.

They are quite heavy to carry into the woods along with your weapon and other gear.

You might want to paint it up to look a bit more realistic. White belly and around the tail. Black nose and glossy black eyes.

We drilled a lagre hole in the rear of ours and inserted an empty 35mm film canister. Then put a cotton ball or two in the canister and added some doe -in -heat scent.

Bucks will approah a buck decoy head on while they will approach a doe decoy from the rear. Just so you know and set up accordingly for proper shot angle.

Yea a lot of hunters use old 3D targets, just remember to wash it with baking soda and when you get out in the field spray it with sent killer and don't forget to rub some doe pee ( for a doe ) or tarsal gland ( for a buck ) using a old ragon the appropiete places ( tail end for doe ) ( back legs for buck ).

Good Luck
