Default Re-Stringing a Bow

How much are you guys paying to have a bow re-strung? I was quoted $70 and I thought that was pretty high.

They are going to use zebra strings.

Thanks

Tom

I do my own, make and restring so I can't help you my friend. Gibblet can tell you how much he's getting for the string, and if I think if your buying the string from the shop, they should put it on if you don't have a press....either way, sometimes it's worth the investment to invest in yourself. Take me, I'm a full blown proshop for me and my friends in my basement, do you know how many strings I can make for the cost of one spool of string material and my jig for your cost of $70...it pays for itself.

Hey Rob,

Thanks for the response. I just got into reloading so I think I'll take it one step at a time. lol.

I would just like to know what some other folks are paying to have a bow restrung.

Thanks

Tom

Rob, about how much of an investment is it to make your own strings? GuessI should learn how to serve first before I get into that.

I'd love to make my own strings but if I spent any more time on bowhunting then I alreadydo I'd be divorced! If you compare the cost of that to the cost of buying a new string once a year it's a no brainer.

I would think you could get some decent quality strings for around $50 or so, though I haven't paid for strings in so long that I'm not exactly sure what the market is bearing right now...

And $70 for Zebras? []I wouldn't pay $10 for them. Ask any custom stringmaker out there how they stay in business, and they'll probably tell you it's building strings to replace those crappy stock Zebras.

As far as where to get a good set, I think someone mentioned PMing Gibblet here on HNI; you can also get an idea of what you're looking at by going to www.vaportrailarchery.com/strings.asp. There's also a very good color selector chart there too.
