mauser, I have been obsessed and had a burning passion for archery since I first picked up a bow. I spent my weekends shooting and reading up on archerywhen all my schoolmates were out partying. I gotta thank alot of guys on this board like Matt/PA, PABowhntr, DavidMil, AussieGuy, WWAG, BigJohn, JeffB, ect... as these guys posts and tips helped me out. I see that same passion in each of your posts and I am truly glad to see you finally got yourself a bow. The door has been opened, welcome to a whole new world
I am rooting for you this year, I see it know, a 130" 10 point buck laying dead at your feet with your bow placed across its stomach. Good luck buddy

thanx guys. confidence is a big part of me. thats what makes me or breaks me. when i first got a flintlock i couldnt put it down. mainly because it was new and i had to build confidence and because the smell of burnt black powder has effects similar to crack! lol...but im finding the same true with archery already. you guys build my confidence and i go in the back yard to prove it. i shot about another 50 or so shots this evening after work. dialed in my top pin and found out its deadly from 10-20yds away. yes i shot a few bullseyes at 20yds away. i noticed its alot harder to hold the pin dead on at 20yds away but im working upto it. then ill work on beyond. i dont plan to shoot far this year at deer(and maybe a turkey if one is so foolish as to walk by my stand in season!) but i think that will build confidence as well.
i know i got alot of work to go but im surprising myself. today when i first started shooting it took me a little to get into the groove. i shot about 15 shots before i decided to adjust the sights. then by 35 or so i was dialed in a shot a few more to make sure, then stepped back to 20yds.
i cant wait for fall im pumped already. i too have ALL of you guys to thank. i couldnt done this without you guys. i stepped into this with no guidance except you guys. i gota get someone to take a pic of me at full draw. i think my form is good from all the reading and pics but i gota make sure. i think my draw legnth is perfect as well.
buck...im going to give it all i can this fall. big buck....tasty doe....tag soup i dont care...atleast im in the fall woods with a bow instead of that danged ole shotgun i carried for 7yrs. i used to die watching nice racker bucks walk withing bow range of me every year. i cant wait. i know bowhunting will be a new game all in itself for me but atleast ill be out there. out of the 10 i killed atleast half were within bow range. i hunt close quarters alot when i stand hunt. thats the funnest kinda hunting. you know they are close when they fill a 3x scope! thats my kinda hunting..thats why i picked up bowhunting. that and because fall i alwwwways see bucks i wish i could have a chance at..
ill keep you all updated on my shooting and hunting. once again thank you all.......and thanks dad for passing on the archery gene. i showed him last night but he been working doubles the passed few days so he was between shifts and not in the best of moods. i cant wait to show him when hes not tired and in a bad mood. i think hes off tomarrow. he will be impressed with my shooting..im trying my best not to blow out another arrow!lol i been shooting the targets on my target instead of shooting groups. i found that if im doing everything right my shots land on each of the targets as it would in a group. all of them in the same general area of the individual targets.

rick.....thats what i started doing after that was spot shooting each individual target. i found i can still read my shots and adjust my pins if i do my part correctly. if im shooting low all the shots will still be low etc....lesson learned! lab hunter....your right it was consistant shooting just about an inch low. that happend WHILE i was dialing in my pin. i now got it pretty dialed in and am cutting that 1 inch squares and circles every time i do my part correctly.
just got off work....time to get out there and let some fly! i might have robinhooded an arrow, but i got alot of work ahead of me. i gota start adding some range. hopefully tomarrow i can get a second pin dialed in. tonight im just going to keep practicing at 10-20yds. i was doing alright last night and put a few shots in the bullseye of the targets. but i gota get myself better so i dont have them fewwww shots i jerk or pull it and send one a bit off. i think ill get there. i cant wait for bow season!!
