thanks dad!

i want to thank my dad for passing on the archery gene! i always heard he was a great archer and bowhunter from him and other guys, and remember his collection of robinhoods from 15+ years ago when he hung up the bow.

today was my first day of shooting with the new Reflex Highlander as many of you know. after getting decint groups at 10, 15 and even measurable groups at 20yds i figured it was time to dial in the pins. id shoot a group and take a break and adjust. i was trying to get my top pin dialed dead on at 15yds. seems like a good starting point for the time being. ill let the pics speak for them selves.....

heres a pic of the new rig..bad pic..batteries were dying on me

ill let these pics speak for them selves.....

although you guys will cry beginners luck im actually impressed with myself thus far. i havent steppedback passed 20yds yet but im working on the pins right now...i should have known not to shoot more then one arrow at a target point..i had many touching arrows...i dont shoot upto par with you guys yet.....but im on my way!! practice makes perfect.....but that was a sickening sound i knew something went wrong. my first thought was holy chit i hit the fence!

will my 2nd arrow be fine to shoot??? i inspected it and it looks fine after i pulled it out of the first arrow..and pulled the inside of the first arrow off....it looks ok? no cracks or spilts..insert wasnt pushed back or anything because of the bag target...the arrows never come out the back of the bag...that second arrow pushed the first through...i bet id have 2 busted arrowsif i was shooting a stiff target....

i am also emailing the pics to huntersfriend and thanking them for the job well done. i know its only 15yds but i think thats good for never touching a bow before.........

Come on Mauser - I think you're blowing smoke up our butts here. Did you find a picture of a shafted arrow online somewhere and claim it as your own????? LOL

Just kidding - glad to hear the shooting is going well for you. I knew you'd be fine.

I'll guarantee you one thing right now. On the night of Friday, September 29, you won't sleep a wink. You'll just lay there, staring at that miserable alarm clock, watching and waiting for wakeup call.

I guess this is your official "Welcome" to Bowhunting Addicts Anonymous. Have a seat while we impatiently wait for September 30... Tick.... Tick.... Tick...

HOLY SH*T! How did you manage that? I believe a congrats is in order.....although I'm never sure if congrats is the correct word to say when you've just put $20 in the garbage.

That is some impressive shooting...especially with it being your first day with the bow!

GONGRATS MAN! Keep up the good work and shoot a big one this year!

Good shooting and congrats on getting your bow! I know the wait had to be tough, and like QS said the wait on that long night before the opener is gonna be a tough one too!

Awsome buddy, I'll tell you one thing, there is no such thing as luck when it comes to archery, there is only skill! The pics speak for themselves and I would say you are off to an amazing start. Keep practicing and you'll have no problems being ready come Sept. 30th. For your first year of archery I would keep your shots at 25 yards or less and you should have no problem putting some venison on the ground.

I've been shooting a bow for 24 years and have never shafted (robined) an arrow. I have broken nocks but never what you just did, And I'm a pretty darn good shooter when I want to be. What can I say except congrats my man and welcome to the brotherhood of the arc. You will love deer hunting more now than you ever imagined before. Wecould usea few million more guys just like you in this sport.

thanx guys....you all made me feel great. all you fellow PA boys are right...the night before the opener i wont catch a minute of sleep. im pumped already. i gota get my arse in the woods here quick! after i get myself shooting decint im going to spend half my time scouting and half of it shooting. i wont lie i have yet to step foot in the woods looking for deer this year. but i got alot of old faithful spots already on the hitlist. i see no reason to go chase them around and get all sweaty when i already have a VERY good idea of where they will be. i will do my part and scout but i dont need to get gung hoe and get permission and all that...i been hunting the same spots since i was 12...ALOT of mental notes of where rublines, scrape lines, buck sightings etc...i gota final check it all pre season and pick trees and hope for the best. im excited...

txrookie...that week wait after the order was a KILLER. these last few years been a killer wishin i had a bow when im sittin there with a shotgun watching nice rackers within typical bow range.

buckmagnet.....thanx for more of the tips. ill definently keep them in mind...for being a younger guy you sure know your stuff...

mo.....yep....its a piece of crap....i started the day with 12 arrows...ended it with 11....any bow that will shoot arrows into your arrows is garbage....i better give it away...nah why curse someone else....ill throw it into the river...

i agree im now a changed person/hunter already. although its only day 1 the same thing happened when i bought my flintlock. a whole new joy and love and passion. this is a fire noone can put out. im that kinda guy..when i like something and im good at it you cant stop me from doing it. i cant wait to be in the woods with the bow this season. just hope i have the cash for a climber. i may be totin ladder stands with me!! lol. i should be able to swing it. i think i get 2 checks before i go back to school then they will owe me a weeks pay. till bow season im going to try to work 2-3 days a week on weekends just to stash hunting gas money, new hunting gear etc. i got a list right now. inspection, registration, oil change, insurance, cellphone, books etc...so ill have to swing it....but i swung the bow when it was lookin impossible....
