Default Intresting Talk with a guy in a proshop

I was in Brownwood, TX for a family renioun and my dad and I stopped at a pro shop. When i got to talking with this guy i learned that he builds arrows for the guy that owns Carbon Express and Mathews. He is famous for building arrows and thats how he makes his living. When we got to talking about arrows he pulled out an Easton Axis that was broke. He said, "see that white stuff?" and I said,"ya what is it?" He said that is was fiber glass. He said that when easton and other companiesmakes their arrows they will put a layer of fiber glass inside the arrow. He said if you got that arrow and were to bend it,maybe not to thetrained eye but it would not shoot correctly everagian. And you would never get a good bullet hole with it when paper tuning. He said it would be like crumbling up paper, it would still be paper but you would not be able to get the wrinkles out. Then he showedme a carbon express arrow. It was 100% carbon, no fiber glass and he said these carbon express arrows and thebest arrows you can shoot. Healso said that they make them outof a better grade of carbon than other companies. Do ya'll believe this or think this guy is full of BS?

My personal opinion is............he pushes CX and in doing so is touting them as the best arrows. You can see that in many shops who predominantly sell one brand as their top brand.

As far as the same guy owning Mathews and Carbon Express........he is full of it.

I kept the Easton Axis that broke last year when a doe fell on it. Her weight snapped the shaft in half. I went out to my shop to inspect it and there was no "white stuff" in it. Looks to me like it is made of carbon fiber and that is all. No fiberglass.

He is full of it.Carbon Express has some good arrows built in Korea.

He is obviously getting a better deal with carbon Express than with Easton.

I will say the Carbon Express arrows may be better than the Excell's,but I doubt they are any better than Axis arrows. They may be about the same as far as Quality.

I would like to see him compare them to Easton ACC's.

There are many good arrows and Carbon Express has some good ones but untill they build them in the USA,they will not get my buisness.

Why haven't people reported seeing the "white stuff" when the arrows are trimmed? You'd think you could see it in the cross-section if it were there.

LOL.....that's news to me. Those Axis are some of the best shooting arrows I've seen.

There maybe a little bit too this guys, I agree this arrow builder is full of it, but if you remember when the axis arrows first came out there were many reports of axis arrows losing their spine overy quickly. I saw this first hand with a shooting partner of mine.

Worth looking into. He gave some info if any of it turns out to be a load then just dismiss it. If not could be some usefull info.

Just got some beman ics hunters. Fletched up 3 and shot them with some broadheads they all hit different spots so I took off the bh's and used one for all 3. They all hit with in a 1.5" circle from 30 but all in a different spot in the circle and all in their own holes 3 times. Must be the shafts. If these others are better it would be nice. Have ordered some elites, maybe they'll be better.

I cut my own arrows at work and use the Axis Obsessions, I've never noticed anything white while cutting them. Not to say I couldn't miss it but I've never seen it.. I like the Axis arrow though, fly's very true.

Patriot15, I don't doubt what you have said, I just highly doubt the information the shop gave you. When he states that CX arrows are the best you can shoot................well I can find a number of archers or pro shops that will say the same about every other brand(specifically the brand they shoot).
