I have the opportunity to go on two outfitted hunts this fall....one is in Mississippi, Giles Island, The other is in Southern Illinois, Wishing Well Outfitters.
The cost of both is about the same when you figure in cost of license. The Mississippi hunt is in early October and the Illinois hunt is in early November. Both are bowhunts. 2 of my friends are going to the Illinois hunt.
Anyone have any input on which place I should choose?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Don

Based on the rut factor, Illinois in November would be my pick. Madeline is on target, the rut in Missippi will be much later than October or November for that matter, so if I had to choose (wish I did) Illinois would be my pick.

That is a tough decision. Might choose Mississippi cause it would be a little warmer then Illnois, but then someone else had it right, some big ones in 'cornville' so might have to give it a shot.
Hey you can always take a coin, say tails Mississippi, heads IL. then toss it up, close your eyes and see which one it lands on!

It's a tough choice.. but it wouldn't be for me. I've shot lots of deer with the bow. I believe Giles Island offers you multiple deer for one price. Illinois offers you an excellent chance at a monster. I've got the numbers in the bag, I'd go with Illinois, especially since the time frame is dead in the rut.You couldn't plan it better. Hello Illinois.... good by Miss.

There are some really big deer at Giles Island. I believe Giles Island may actually be under Louisiana law. Many of the islandsaround Miss. fall under La. regulations. Regardless, you may actually have a better chance to bag a trophy at Giles than in Ill. There are some monsters in Ill. though.
