Definately not Mossy Oak or RT, the tend to blob with less than effective outline break up...I am a big fan of open patterns such as Predator, ASAT and I'm anxious about the new Enigma pattern. I'm a current ASAT wearer and if I am pleased with the new Enigma, it will become my new pattern of choice. From what I've seen and read on it thus far, it has all the plus's of ASAT and improvements.

I use Advantage Timber early season and this year I'll be using Skylines Horizon patern for leaf drop, it looks like it will be good in the snow also.:)

I have been very pleased with my ASAT 3D suit.

I must admit thought the new Enigma pattern has caught my attention and I will be anxious to see the finished product.

For now though it's ASAT all the way.

Nodog, I will still wear the Scent suits sometimes also, I just Mean that I am also gonna get all my Predator back out and use it agin also. Believe me, I did everything just like you are supposed to with the Scent suits and took really good care of them. I only washed them a few times each , and only in the carbon clothes wash just like instructed. I am the kind that doesn't put anything that will be going in the woods with me on until I am out of the truck and getting ready. Everything is kept as scent free as possible. What I meant about the suits, from what I have heard and learned about it, and this even comes from of the Scent Lok representatives, is that the activated carbon basically has a certain "shelf life" that it will remain active and capable of of absorbing the scent molecules. I know that there has been alot of very in depth and detailedthreads on here and other forums from people who work with the activated carbon and have an indepth knowledge of its effectiveness and its capabilities, and I have spoken at length witha chemical engineer who works with it every day for water and air filtration systems where I work, and they all have the same conclusions. Most of them say, in the first place, that the typical home clothes dryers do notreach a temperature sufficient enough to reactivate the carbon fully in the first place. That always botheres me in the first place. They all also agreed that after 2 to 3 years of average use, ( and believe me, I hunt alot!)the carbon has reached its full absorption capacity and is no longer capable of doing its intended job. I have had these suits for a while now, and have used them alot, so I really feel that they about have to past the point of working for me. As said, when you use the scent suits, you don't wash them but once to twice a season. So basically, I am hunting in them, then sticking them back in the bag till the next hunt. Now, think about tis If the suit and /or scent garments ( base layers etc) are full and not actually absorbing the scent, you are just continually contaminating that garment with more human scent everytime you use it. So each night you pull it out of the bag, and the Rubbermaid container, and wear it to the woods, you are dragging more and more scent with you. Does that make sense? Whereas, when I use the regular clothes, it comes home and straight in the washer with Hunters Specialties soap, and gets put right back in clean and descented for the next hunt. And I do wash all my clothes that are not carbon impregnated after every hunt. So to me, when they lose their effectivness they are no good to me because I have no confidence in them. Why take all the steps, and then throw on a suit that has been worn for days in the feild and sealed up in human odor.
I was really big on the scent suits for the past few years. Then as I learned more like I told you about, I really started thinking about it I have no doubt that they do work mind you, I am not doubting them at all. But to me, when they do stop working, and you keep using them as you did while they did work, you are actually taking more scent out to your stand with you.
I also use the different types of base layers with the silver fibers in them under the scent suits also. From all the research I have seen on them, they are very effective at stopping the scent from forming in the first place. As I said, before all this stuff came around, I just wore my regular different Predator suits, went the extra mile on keeping them, all myother clothes and gear, and myself as scent free as humanly possible. And like I said, I had just as many deer all around me and killed them just the same as I have since wearing the suits and all the other stuff.
So, to me, why keep spending the $200-300 for the suits that will become used up when I can keep practicing the steps I did before, with a camo pattern I like better, and add about $40-$50 worth of the Silvermax, X-Scent, Contain, No Trace undergarments that will not lose their effectiveness for the life of the garment? Man I can buy alot of those undergarments and other gear with that money, and still be that successful. That is just a no brainer to me. If the other stuff didn't work for me as it has in the past, I would gladly keep shelling out $$$ for the scent suits. But hey, if I can still be successful and save that kind of money for other gear, that is how I will do it.
Sorry to be so long winded, but I did want you to see where I was coming from. I am not saying that the scent suits don't work. I really beleive they do. But just not long enough for me anymore. I guess I must be trying to be more rational in my old age of 41. Mom always said it would happen!!:D
