RE: Whisker Biscuit making noise???

I just don't understand why anyone would buy a WB with all the Full Containment Drop Aways that are on the market, except for price. A good drop awayfully contains, speeds up your arrow, is quiet as long as you have fabric on the prong and doesn't make contact with your arrow or fletchings.

My arrow increased 3 fps just switching between a tradition 2 prong rest and a drop away.

Someone please explain where the advantage of the WB is, other than price?

Tom

The whisker biscuit is a great rest, but it did cost me a chance on a good buck that I'd been after, last Fall. The noise it made when the arrow dragged across the WB set my buck on full alert.

DISCLAIMER:: I am a 41 yr old Project Manager for a regional General Contractor. I've been hunting for 30 years.......I possess a college degree (with a minor) and I bowhunted probably 30 timeslast year. My son and I practice indoor 3D's twice a week.....and shoot from our ladder stand at our own 3D's, too. We likely shoot our bows150 times a week. I'm in good shape for my age.....and my hearing is fine. Pleasefactor in the above information when forming your own opinions about the WB...which I've already stated is a great rest.

Just for reference purposes Ive been shooting a WB for years and have never had any noises from drawing the bow back that Ive heard. But, thats not to say it doesnt make noises on my bow or anyone elses, maybe Im going deaf in my old age lol, seriously wouldnt suprise me. I agree with Davemil, its pretty simple, if it is making a noise with whatever your combo you are using, juts get rid of it.

It's simple. Noise is not the preferred thing to have coming from your bow. If it makes noise, quiet it. If you can't quiet it and you're uncomfortable with it... JUST GET RID OF THE THING!!! What could be easier. Atlas can quote and requote all he wants. It doesn't change what YOU hear.Get rid of the thing. I can't begin to reply to all the claims but one struck me as a one sided arguement. Someone said sure moleskin is quiet, but is it quiet when it's frozen. You were led to believe no but the WB of course was a cure all. I'd love to see how quiet a WB is when it's frozen. I know... I KNOW... whisper soft. Yeah....right...whatever. Here's your sign.

Try to have some perspective David.............not everyone has Len sitting around willing to ultra modify a MZE for them like some science project.

Why ANYONE would recommend getting rid of a rest due to draw noise is beyond me..........that has to be some of the worst advice I have seen on these boards.

EVERY rest makes noise on the draw..........EVERY one. Do whatever you have to do in your mind to find the combo that suits your ear and stop whining already.

There are so many other components to the value of a rest that it is just plain stupid to get rid of one based on sound unless it is extreme which in 99.9% of the cases I would bet it is not. ANY rest can be quick fixed to lower sound............and even better.........some don't even need to be.

I asked if moleskin was quiet if it gets frozen...........is your answer yes?

Yeah yeah.. I know... WHISPER SOFT adn QUIET. Which by the way, I've never knew when I drew my bow. Why... it's amazing. It's ... well... why... its.... quieter than a Whisker Bisquit.[8D] OH, I forgot, Muzzy. I've seen more threads on here about people trying to quiet the WB, Trimming, cutting and still complaining of noise. YET, through every one of these threads the WB loyals or pushers still say it's the quietest thing going, it must be installed wrong, or you're using the wrong arrows or something. AND... in another month someone esle will come in with "How can I quiet my WB"? I don't care if Billy Bob has hunted in the artic circle with a WB and it was whisper quiet, we're going to get another thread from about every other WB newbie wanting to know how he can quiet his WB..... and someone will tell him it's installed wrong, or he's using the wrong arrow, or they've hunted since WWII and never had a sound from theirs. It never fails to happen, it will again. If it's making noise throw the damn thing in the trash can, OR... sell it back to Billy Bob.

There would be just as many threads asking questions about the Muzzy Zero Effect.............if anyone was buying it.

That rest is so easy to install it comes with it's own DVD hosted by Bob Villa............no problems, you can have that thing strapped on in less then a week.

RE: Whisker Biscuit making noise???

I love the WB since I put it on earlier this year. I have no complaints - especially with the ones that are so commonly referred to.

A few of my local buddies have no compliants with the WB because they have never used one and all have drop-aways. They've also never made negative comments about the WB and I've never made negative comments about their drop-aways when we shoot together at the local range.

I guess we've never paid much attention to each other's rest or felt the need to. If it works for you, it works for you. Who gives a BLEEP what anyone else thinks?

Atlas, I didn't say Muzzy was the best rest for everyone. Nor did I say just get rid of it if it makes noise. I said, If it makes noise fix it and if you can't....get rid of it. Big difference in what I said and what you said I said.

P.S. I guess I better quote it properly or I'll be chastised.

If it makes noise, quiet it. If you can't quiet it and you're uncomfortable with it... JUST GET RID OF THE THING!!!

Atlasman,

I have those felt sleaves that go over my schaffer drop away prongs. Never have made a noise. I'm very happy with it.
