Just goes to show you if you want something done right; you have to do it yourself
.
If a bow you like didn't make the list or wasn't rated as high as you would like to see it I wouldn't worry about it.
Bows are such a personal thing, all of the opinions are subjective to a persons use, likes, dislikes, style, and to some extent physical attributes. Would you let someone pick outa wife for you? Didn't think so...
The most perfectly built bow in the world might not be the one a guy would choose and be happy with. That is why it is idiotic to argue over "what is the best bow"! I wouldn't let one of these charming editors influence my decision on what I prefer for a New York minute (even if theirpet pickmatched mine).
Where is Merlin? Kodiak? Jennings? McPherson?According to what I see on this list (didn't see the article) there are some top notch bows that didn't get tested.....

Not picking but they were all parallel limbed bows. Don't know if these others make one.

After further review of this test...one more thing popped up...the Trykon XL is listed everywhere in the article as the Trykon XT. There are several other errors in this month's edition as well, wonder if the editors had the week off maybe.

Of course not AE, they didn't buy enough advertising in Outdoor Life or its sister pub Field and Stream - or exert the simple effort it takes to get their product reviewed. Nott saying that's the way it always works, but in some cases it does so in a very direct manner.
Such select product placement can occurr when a bow company spends a lot of $$$ with the publication on advertising and then sends the pub some freebies like a brand new, state of the art, very expensive bow for them to test out. A follow up call from the bow company's savy media relations guy and why wouldn't they profile that bow? Oh wait, that's how I get products placed for the the company (nothing to do with hunting) that I work for.
These bow reviews are a great tool if you see them for what they are, a nice way to visualize and learn about the specs of some new bows that are out there.

Chucker, good points. As far as I know, the bows that they review are the ones that are sent to them for review because a couple of the reviews mention "The bow that we recieved to review..." For the smaller bow companies, it is a good way to get some publicity though, especially if you can wrangle a favorable review.

Yooper Mike. Agreed. It can be a very good marketing and awarenesstool for small and large companies alike.
AE, all of this talk gives me an idea. You should start selling ad space on your mask. The lucky hunting company can just airbrush thier logo on when you post your big buck pic this year in the contest. You could even make some comment about how you couldn't have done it without the help of you [insert company name here]-sponsored mask.

You realize of course you can't put any faith in these type of reports. I ask you, have you ever seen one of them come out and say, "this thing sucks". Have you ever seen them print, "Save your money and take your wife to dinner". I've been watching this garbage come out for about 30 years and they've never given a bad report to anything. Worse yet, they've never said anything like "This is the one". They're all advertisers. They all give the script to the publications(or websites). These in debth reports are never anything more than company infomercials taken straight from an add. They just hold no value to me. They invariably leave out some of the best on the market because they didn't play the game or didn't buy the BIG ADDS. I wouldn't waist my time reading the junk. If I want an infomercial I'll turn on the TV.

I read the review. I also read another review in either Sports Afield or F&S that said that the Mathews Switchback and Hoyt Trykon scored about the same. If you look at OL, they Switchback and Trykon scored about the same on that test. Maybe the right answer is that they are sister pubs.
I thought it was interesting that the Diamond bow (Liberty?) scored lower in performance, but supposedly all of the testersperceived it was the best bow. Again, was there a "correction" because the results were pre-determined?
