Good shooting. I used to shoot the ground hogs in my back yard for practice. If they ever tear down the storage shed on the back property they might just find a few arrows in some piles of bones underneath.:D

I appreciate a good shot as much as anyone but why the need to show really grahic kill shots? I don't understand whatthe point. Is it to show us what super duper shots you are or is to it to fuel the outrage of the anti hunters? It is this kind of crap that portrays us as bubba's.
This is just my opinion and I expect many will disagree with me,I just don't see the point of making these type of photo's public.

You know what makes me really upset. Hunting shows that don't show the "impact" whether it is with rifle, bow, shotgun, whatever. If your watching a hunting show or on a hunting forum, I don't see what the big deal is. But, its gettin to the point where we are all going to have to be "politically correct." I just don't think we are to that point............YET.....[:o]

RE: I warned em.

I definitely don't mind the blood or even the wound. But, what is the piont of hunting... I take issue with the idea that the wound is what I am the most proud of. It's the trophy, meat, and life time memories, at least it is for me..

P.S.
I am here becasue I love hunting. If I have to LOVE blood and guts maybe I am in the wrong forum

That there is a rat face upstate NY hole digger, and a repeat offender at that. The arrow struck a galvinized tin bucket that was behind him and went through that also.

I have seen it all now!Someone complaining about a picture of a dead grounbdhog being too gruesome????? On this forum?

Maybe the hunter should have wiped off all of the blood around the mouth and cleaned all of the blood off of his head..... LEt's not get too graphic now.Do weneed to mask the fact that animals die when we shoot them!!!!!

Give me a second while I PUKE!!![:'(]

RE: I warned em.

Hey guys....I love hunting....I think it's an innate, instictual trait of "man".....and I teach my son all about it.

When it came time for my son to be able to hunt by himself (somewhat supervised....behind our home on the 200 acres we have access to)....even though he holds a lifetime license (and has since he was born)...he had to take a hunters' safety couse.Although I didn't have to....I took it with him. ONE of the things discussed in the class was JUST what we're discussing, here. Someone mentioned cleaning the impact area up prior to a photo being taken. What's so wrong with that? A "classy" harvest photo can be shown to many more people with NO negative repercussions. What's so wrong with that?

Before anyone thinks I'm wound too tight.....I'm juststating an opinion. You're PERFECTLYwithin your rights to post whateverharvest photos you choose. I won't say anything negative about them...(other than offerinf MY opinion). And....if you thinkjust the "other guys" are wound too tight.......let me start anotherpost about something hunters in my area do ALL THE TIME (including me). Let's talk about baiting. We'll see people get twisted up like a pretzel.;)

Have a great day, guys......I'm just putting forth a point of view.

Jeff

RE: I warned em.

I agree the headshot photo was a little much. Not that my sensitive stomach can't take it, but it seems in poor taste because it does seem excessively graphic. I don't revel in the gore and blood of my prey, I don't shrink from it either. So IMO the first picture was fine, the second picture was poor judgement. The "damn the torpedoes" approach to anti's isn't necessarily the best approach either.

fletch920 07-13-2006 08:23 AM

RE: I warned em.

To say that all anti's are pot smoking maggotts is the same as saying all hunters are slobs. There are a lot of anti's out there with more time, money and political power than most of us will ever know. Why poke a sleeping dog? The "in your face" attitude will do nothing but hurt us all in the end. Again, as I have said before, you dont have to like being politically correct but you are hurting our sport if you ignore the truth.

Crittergiter 07-13-2006 08:24 AM

RE: I warned em.

i'm kinda new here but I don't see anything wrong with showing dead critters, blood, guts, dead. All of it is good.

And if the anti people have a problem with it they can go somewhere else.

GMMAT 07-13-2006 08:52 AM

RE: I warned em.

And......

It's not a case of "them" going "somewhere else". It's a case of "them" using our own photos (i.e. 'bullets') to load "their" guns (i.e. 'anti' propoganda) and taking them elsewhere.

Just stop and think.....that all that's being observed/commented on. I'll defend your right to hunt in ANY way that is legal and ethical (And I DO). It's also likely legal to splita deer's head open with a bush axe prior to taking your harvest photo.......though we don't do that much......for "some" reason.

I'm done. You guys have a great weekend.

Jeff

HuntinGUS 07-13-2006 08:57 AM

RE: I warned em.

I can understand where some of you guys are coming from whit you "in your face" argument. It makes sense.

I also however think that if we continue to sugar coat the fact that blood and guts are a part of what we do, we will see more and more attempts to create a more user friendly/PC way of hunting such as the WMA.

Look at the progression of things over the past 5 years. The more we give and the more we conceed to what others want just to keep them off our backs the more we weaken our heritage. Ask yourself this. Would your father or grandfather make an appology to anyone or make concessions to anyone for killing an animal? Would they appologize for a disply of blood and guts? Then ask youself if the state of hunting in popular opinion is better now or then?

The reason the anti's are so influential is b/c some hunters allow them to be.

fletch920 07-13-2006 08:59 AM

RE: I warned em.

Crittergiter, if you can truely be proud of that post you have a long ways to go. You might be surprised when some day the anti's tell you where you CANT go.

statjunk 07-13-2006 09:02 AM

RE: I warned em.

I don't have a problem with the pics. However I wouldn't post them on the internet because I wouldn't want my kill photos to end up on some jerko's sign standing on the corner shouting to the world at how bad hunting is. Or worse yet on a Peta site, tv etc...

You might be proud of you pics but I bet you'd regret it if they showed up somwhere you wouldn't want them.

I also don't believe in cleaning up kill pics. It is what it is.

Tom
