My target is out of service
After being away on vacation for over a week, I finally was able to get out my bow to resume my target practice. I recently replaced the string and cables and have not yet moved my sights to the correct location. I'm shooting a bit high, but with great groups. After sending the highest arrow right through the bag target, I was trying to find out where it went. A thorough search failed to reveal it's location and I returned to the target to retrieve my arrows.
I then noticed what looked like pine needles sticking out of the top of the bag. I reached over to pull them off and was slightly startled when a bird came flying out of my target! A further search revealed a nest and 3 small eggs inside the top of my bag target -- right where my arrow just went through! I have been checking the last couple days and the bird is staying in the nest except when I get with-in a foot or so of her. It's a house wren and she is now in control of that target!
Fortunately, I have multiple excelsior bale targets set up at various locations in my yard and alternate shooting locations aren't a problem. Apparently, the wren didn't think there were any safety issues involved in living in one of my targets!

You think she saw you shooting and felt she was safe? Na, that can't be, I've seen you shoot and that bird would be crazy to nest in your target.
