Reading on Stand

Your opinions?

I like to read to pass the time on slow days. A small novel that can be tucked into a side pocket on my pants if something comes through. Nothing big and bulky.

Even Michael Waddell plays an electronicYahtzee game with the sound turned off.

I do it. Have a small outdoorsmans Bible or a good Louis LaMoure book... If youre in the market for a good read on stand "The Last of the Breed" is a classic!

I read John Trout's book last year and also a John Grisham book. I love the suspense and passed several nice bucks so I wouldn't lose my place. J/K

When I shot my first deer ten years ago, I was reading the United Methodist Book of Worship and preparing for a funeral that I had to do in a few hours. I was a young pastor and hunter. Since that time I have enjoyed the hunt too much to read on stand, even though I have wondered about doing it. I might try it this year. I usually don't get bored while hunting. Rather, I enjoy the stillness. So, maybe I won't start reading on stand this year either!

Was reading in stand this past season and a nice buck got by me before I knew it. Put the book away in disgust at myself anda bigger buck came down the same trail a minute or two later. He's down in the freezer now. :)

Try it, you would be suprised.

Your sense of hearing seems to highten while reading, at least mine does. I generally hear the deer coming in before I see them whether I'm reading or not.
